Looks brutal, but very high poly. I think it would be a lot more realistic with uniform sized spikes as well. Remember, they key to making an intresting model is all in the details, even a few simple things can make it that much better. I would suggest using google images (or a library, whatever takes your fancy ;) ) when your looking for inspiration for something.

That's a preety awesome mace. Good work!
Here's a quick tip though: For uploading pics, use something like www.imageshack.com, or photobucket.com. It's free, and lets you have more bandwidth, I believe.

Thanks chiv, i did a mace like it before (its a tutorial from a long time ago) this time i did it from memory. It wasnt ment for games so i didnt worry about poly's. (although the mace the ettien drops in hexen could use some work...) im still getting used to the buttons. ill model one from a real image next.

Im working on a new mace, based off this one, http://www.fisk-knives.com/Mace.jpg im mostly done with the ball part and the handle is whats being tricky. texturing should be easy. im not sure if the handle is steel or wood because the pic is black and white
Edit: i made the handle too long, but i deselected it, how do i type in the peramters now? if its possible at all.
Edit 2: WIP pic up: thanks for the site Shakadi, but its .us not com, it took me to a uk site thats not up. I played with the texturing and only textured the ball and spikes, you can also see the base of the handle in it. im not too happy with the texture on the spikes.

Edit 3: this is the last time i swear ;) i just noticed the spikes are not attached, you can see space between them. i turned the polys down, the sphere has 10 so it looks blocky

Now thats 10 times better already. Dont forget to model the parts on the handle individually, when you get to it, because they make up a large amount of the detail in your base pic.

Are you using Gmax Caden? I think you said you are:
Create a standard cylinder, give it 20 or so height segments. Then select every other vertical loop then scale outwards.

I FINALLY fixed my damn computer (got a virus i guess)

Yea im using it.I dont get that part, but I do get what you mean about the segments. Is this for that bumpy handle? i thought about doing a reflective glassy look on the little ball on the end like a crystal or something, although i doubt that would be on a real mace, i jus think it would look cooler. Dani, how do i like weld the things together, they are all different parts floating around, i just put them close to make it seem they are together. Or is it not nessicary? Anyways too many questions for me to ask at once, ill experiment some more and see what i can do. Thanks for the help guys
Edit: im using the auto grid thing that makes it like stick to the model you draw it on. i just make the shape then type in the sizes. is there an easier/more accurate way to align things? i get mixed up when i move them by hand and those arrows dont seem to ever go where i need them to.

ok Dani i figured out what you meant (i think) ill post a new pic if anyone wants to see. it looked a little jaggad so i turned up mesh smooth and it froze up and my mem program was freaking out.
Edit: The Mostly Finished Product:

Thats about the best i can do, maybe if i learn to make textures or find some free ones and learn how to unwrap i can improve it, but for now i think that is all i can do.

Doesn't look like there are any spikes around the bottom left corner of the sphere, should you be able to see some sticking out from behind the edge as with the top right side?
Other than that thumbs up *thumbs*
