I wanna play on doomsday master server!

I've run into this problem so many times, cause I get so frustrated when I cannot play with other new Doom enthusiasts.

I go to the control panel for a TCP/IP multiplayer game. Then, I go to the "get from master server" button.

The description of a game I wanna join is displayed, but the connect button does not light up.

Is it possible for me to join a game in this manner? I'll see if I can find a solution in the forums here.

Uh.. the connect button doesnt activate until you click on a server

Yeah, there are no permanent servers. You'll have to either wait for one to show up or organise a match with someone on IRC or whatever. Sorry, but the plain truth is not many people play Doomsday multiplayer. Most people stick to zdaemon for that.

but thats ot the truth there are quite a few people who play online on doomsday. http://www.doomsdayhq.com/master.php check that a couple times a day then you will now what i mean

@groit: do you have doomsday 1.8? because that is what most people use.

that link is very helpful.. But, when I enter in the IP and make sure I'm using the same iwad files, it still does not work

my version is Doomsday Kickstart v2.09

I know that, but I wanted to make it clear that Doomsday is unlike Quake 3 or Unreal where you can find 1000 servers at any time of day. Zdaemon is the only one that remotely comes close to that, which is a shame really because its not that inspiring.

btw, where is everyone getting their wads like abbspack.wad? i thought that was a pk3 file

Abbspack.wad is probably inside the pk3 file, so doomsday reports it as loaded. I dunno for sure, never really liked Abbs alternative guns.

abbspack.wad contains the new sounds he added for the weapon switching.

I'm getting the 13 dwango wads now..

I'm having a lot of luck using the Doom Connector. I'd recommend it to any New Doom enthusiast since it can run Doomsday AND the other neat ports.

Wow there sure are a lot of zdaemon games.
