View Full Version : Does any one make/know good models for doomsday?

:( Can anyone tell me where to find or make me models? I would love to have better monster models, diffrent weapons ect. If someone would be so kind to make some, a list of what I would like is here:
Monsters:
1.If possible, more doom 3 like.
otherwise:
2.Better zombies, the current ones are horrible.
3.a better pinky demon, the normal ones suck.
4.A much better imp, not leaning all the time.

Weapons: (my favorite)
1.Doom 3 like, if possible.
or:
2.flamethrower (replace the plasma gun)
3.assault rifle (I don't like the chaingun)
4.more future based shotgun and supershotgun.

dude, you're askin for some doom3 mod of doomsday, which, hopefully, isn't going to happen. Dani's work on the jDRP is the finest there is, and with the new version coming out, i think you may be more pleased with all of the changes.

[edit: and dont start talking about Doom 3 here. I havent played it yet, and any spoilers out of the doom3 forums WILL make me drown puppies and hurl kittens.

whats up with the infestation of CS kiddie-like behavior? some kid flamed ninja in the main forum.. we should ignore the damanding lazy little SOBs and hope they go away

Look, reading your own personal wish list was very nice. I have one too, and so does Felix, and Slyde, and their brothers and sitsters, and their cousins, and their GP's, teachers, work collueges, managers, managers secretaries....

Pining for something is not the right way to go about getting it.

lol i hate the demon so much ive been spending my time modifying/optimizing him. (hence my new avatar) Unfortunatley making a conversion from 35,000-80,000 polys is quite annoying. I could make u a doom 3-like model without the bump/specular mapping but i doubt ur comp could handle it. Hence im attempting different modeling methods to get the best quality per poly. Dani is currently the modeling guru with the md2 format and he is doing some great work.

ok, I know my computer can handle doom 3 stuff, i just wanted doom 3 in doom, i like dooms gameplay. Oh, and I will have a skin site up, soon. I will have skins for download, and people can send in their own skins and I'll put them up! :)

Should be interesting to see what you come up with. You should know though that I don't give permission for my skins to be used as a base. If you want to create your own from scratch then that's ok :)

People arn't going to make models for you. Especially Doom3 style ones because IT IS IMPOSSIBLE within Doomsday because of the lack of normal/spec mapping.

BTW Envid - Doom3's models are on average around 2000-4000 polys ;)

i wasnt referring to doom 3's models as being in the 10k+ polys although I didnt know it was that low. I was guessing more like 7-8k. Must....have.....more.....polys!!!!

Danni, do you model a hi-res poly model and then downgrade it or do u model low res from the get go?

*sighs* can somebody please make a sticky post SOMEWHERE that says, "IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE DOOM 3 in DOOMSDAY?" This is like the third or fourth post I've seen from someone asking for us to port Doom 3 into Doomsday. People, THINK before you post! Not only is it impossible, it's also a stupid idea and completely pointless. If you want Doom 3, go out and buy it.

Dont forget, one of them was technically a request to make Doomsday into a replacement engine for Doom 3. Does that count?

I think it won''t take long before someone starts a doom1&2 remake on the d3 engine..

I'm not a regular poster here, but I've been following the forum, the engine and the packs development for years now, and I'm really impressed with you guys' work up until now. =]

The only problem is that Doom 1 and 2 requires more memory than doom3 for caching textures now =p

I guess i should buy a vga with 256mb of ram or more system ram (1gb).. But I still like to blow stuff in the good old doom even with the constant swaps.

May be some kind of texture compression would help.. but that's up to you guys to decide.

Aye, I'd love to have some old Doom maps converted for Doom 2 deathmatch. That'd be fun.

I doubt anybody will convert doom1/2 to doom 3. It just doesn't make sense when you think about it. The level design and technology of both games is too far apart. If copied exactly it'll look ridiculous and probably run like ass on most computers with the huge amount of monsters. And if you "re-imagine" Doom1/2, well....id software already did that with Doom 3.

I think everything we want is right here in Doomsday and various resource packs, high res textures, and other goodies talented fans have been making for years.

Personally, I'd rather see the original Quake remade with the Doom 3 engine. Wait...tenebrae 2...I'm too late, dammit! :P

About all the doom3 models into jdoom, it is completly possible to do that and it is pretty freaking owsome when your have the finished product. I took the doom3 .MD5MESH and the .MD5ANIM and imported them into 3ds 8 then exported them as Half-life .smd then imported them into a mighty fine little program called Milkshape 3d. After that i diddent even write a .qc for the md2 i just exported it then wrote i nice .ded defintion and i had the doom3 shotgun working in jdoom. After that i was inspired to do the rest of them. I took the fists from d3 the pistol, machinegun, rocket launcher, chaingun, plasmagun, and the BFG. It was the finest set of jdoom weapon models ever made. But i was just lucky enough to not back them up when i was doing my monthly reformat. I still have a picture or two that i sent skyjake whining that i need advanced texture effects for models. Now what im doing is im taking doom and putting on to the Source engine, the engine that Half-Life 2 was made on. if anybody wants a model from anygame into jdoom just ask. EvilsAdvocate@gmail.com

maybe you all stop argue at him?
he is right, during this and the last year nobody made new models and textures for jdoom or any updates, so maybe jdoom is dead?
the last update was too long time ago and i dont see any new updates in the future, so....i go out from jdoom and ill try to find more better project with prerspective leaders and faster updates, its boring to look this treathead, where nobody did nothing for a game and if he did he dont want to upload it to the comunnity
so bye-bye, maybe youll do something for this game during years or maybe not *crazy*

The people involved in the making of new textures and models, have other projects on the go and are not going to drop everything just because people like you want something there and then. If you’re that bothered about it, go make your own.
If it takes DaniJ another 2 or 3 years to finish the jdep v1.1 then so be it. We are willing to wait. If that isn’t good enough for you then maybe you should leave.

i don't know about you guys but i'm pretty happy with all of the improvements in doomsday. i mean come on these games are like 10 years old. compared to the software version of these games this is f***ing awesome. the best thing about doomsday is overhauled features WITHOUT changing the "feel" of doom. we seem to forget that.
