player shadows

does anyone know why the player has a shadow in multiplayer , but not singleplayer ?

i didnt know that but i cant play multiplayer so thats why. i dont know, i guess just a little querk. or maybe its because no one is looking to see your shadow in singleplayer, i know the mosnters dont care. but in mulitplayer the other players of course expect to see your shadow unless they have it turned off.
