Doom 3 Won't Start UP

The installation went smooth, and completed fine. I restarted my comp when it asked me, logged back in, double clicked the shortcut, clicked play, and i get this messaged telling me to insert "Doom 3 Disk 1, click OK, and restart the application."
THE DISK IS IN THE DRIVE!!!
Why doesnt it recognize my disk? It was fine during installation, and now it cant find it.
Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
2.08 GHz
1.00 GB of Ram
e-GeForce FX 5600XT 256MB DDR AGP

I don't this will help...but did you try starting the game from the disk instead of the desktop short cut?

Yes, i think i tried every shortcut there was. But thats why this problem is so strange. its obvious that it recognizes the disk, because ill go to my computer and there it will be, ill click the .exe, and then it will tell me it cant find the disk! but i just clicked on it! ahh!

Sounds like an issue with copy protection.

Sounds like non orignal disk copies to me as well. *squint*

Now I'm really getting mad...

First the graphics go to pieces, now I can't get it to recognise the disc!

Yes it's in the drive, Yes it's an original, Yes it worked yesterday...only this time around, I have installed it into another directory. Maybe that is the cause.

Im going to reinstall using defaults now. Will let you know what happens. If it doesnt work the game is flying out the Window.

You need the patch for it.
