Hi,
My probel is quite simple, I've got myselft doom3 one day ago and installed it.
When I start the game I get some SEIOUS lag IN THE MENU (can hardly move teh mouse)and if I manage to start a game it takes about 5 minute for the first image of teh game to show up ... so that prolly makes a 0.0001 fps ...

unless I miss something my pc has everything from the minimum.
Amd 2400+ oc'ed a 2135mhz
asus gf4 mx440 64mg (that i tryed to oc too)
creative audigy sound card (first generation)
and 512 mg of ram

I've got at the lastest driver for video card and sound card.
didn't changed anything.
I've tryed all the tweak I could find (the cgf file and did the unpack of the pk4 file too)
don't think it changed anything

Any idea ??
I guess that if I cant figure this one out I might go buy myselft a new video card (Its been a while that I should have done that)
In the case what would u guys recommend me ? Say I want the best quality for price but still toward "cheap" performance card not enthousiast or entry lvl card...

thx for your time !

Last post.
Also do the un packing of the PK4 files to the /DooM3/Base directory.

Min Get a Geforce 5200FX or ATIĀ® Radeon 9600 with 228 meg Video RAM

Get the non-Ultra at least if you can, the LE's clock speed is much lower.

please don't waste your money. Shop at newegg.com and you won't get ripped off that same card there is $115 and for $200 you can get the Radeon 9800pro. *turvy*

I'm talking about CAD (or canadian money) not in US.
and maybe while we are at it someone could tell about all those letter.
like: le, td, ht, magic, se, xt, pro.

btw I know about newegg but last time I checked they were not delevering in canada...

SE=you'd think special edition but its a crippled version and often much slower
LE=Light Edition (slower as the name implies)
XT=slightly slower (Nvidia)
nothing (like just FX5700)
Pro=faster (ATI)
Ultra=fastest (Nvidia)
XT=fastest (ATI)

I rolled back to 45.20 drive wich made it work quite "OK" !
why 45.20 ?? because they are the last driver called detonator and not forceware.
so they were designed for my card generation.

so far I'm still trying to tweak it but quality is not really great ...
might after all buy anothe gfx card
