i borrowed my friends copy of doom 3 just to see if it would work on my machine, and i installed it all and then when i try to start the screen freezes or fails at the first rectangular image that says dooom 3 with the monster dude, well i guess this has happened to pther people and there is a write on it at the activision or whatever site. well i tried everything listed and the only one left is to make sure minimum requirements are met, but im not sure if mine are, i have a p4 1.8 with 512mb of ram , but my gpu is a geforce 2 mx 200, and it says a u need a 3d card, but doesnt list my card so is it not supported? i assume it isnt, but i still have a problem. other people said they got farther before it told them the gpu was not supported, so if i upgrade my gpu wont i still have this probblem? thanks for any help u have.

I would say it's your video card. Min for Doom III is a GeForce 3 ti or better with at least 64 meg video ram.... but from what I have seen you would need to turn off all the effects and drop back your resaloution to 600x480... This could be done by manualy editing the DoomConfig.cfg file in the Doom3/Data directory. If it still don't run, Then upgrade that vid card to at least a 5200 fx series or higher video card.

You need to go to the (assuming you installed it to the default Dir)
C:\Program Files\Doom3\Data\DoomConfig.cfg
Right Click Start
Left Click Explore
Look at the list on the left, In My Computer you will see the C:\ drive
Click on the + to expand the trees and - to colapse the trees.... Navagate to
C:\Program Files\Doom3\Data\
In that folder you will find the "DoomConfig.cfg" file.

i dont think that you installed incorrectly in that case because the two folders you should find within the Doom 3 folder are "base" and "docs". i would try reinstalling it.

Second thought Just go here and get the .zip and add it to your base Dir and try and restart the game... I knocked all the toys down so it will play at its lowest level..... lets see if it works.

I meant Unzip it to your base dir... Damn I need a brake :P
