For all of us who've complained about the dissolving bodies, our answer has arrived. I just saw over at gamespot a Doom3 mod that addresses the dissolving bodies. It's called Ungibbable and ive tried it it's great:

Monster's bodies stay and their deaths do look quite realistic. I noticed no (or little) system slowdown in a room with a pile of 6 dead imps piled on top of eachother.

The bodies DO dissolve after a certain period, maybe under 60 seconds. Lost souls are NOT affected by the mod, which I was very happy about it.

Anyway, go check it out if you care, at http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom3/downloads.html

Also, if this is on the forums already, sorry. :)

yeah, i second that looney. i dont have the geforce fx 6800 so i dont want my videocard to do any more work than it has to. i think the disappearing bodies is a fine idea.

Well if that's a feature you can turn on or off it's not a bad thing.

I like the body dissolving, b/c when you kill a demon, I don't think you're actully killing it. Instead, I think you've just banished it back to hell.
Sorry for the D&D reference, but according to it, the only way to kill a demon is to kill it in its home plane.

I'm actually growing to like the dissolving myself. but once in a while I do like to examine my dead foe. It's also really cool when you kill an imp while it's in mid-air, jumping at you, and the body goes limp in the air and falls to the ground with a thud and hasn't been dissolving the whole time. It kind of maes them seem like there's more substance to them.

Methinks this is one fine mod, i tested it for an hour or so and it did not cause any extra slowdown for me, they burn away after 60 second anyways.
I think i might use this mod for the next time i play the game, cos its nice to take a close look at what im fighting in the game :)

yeh its alright this is. however i think i'll remove it for the time being and play Doom 3 till the end without it. and for the second time with things like the touch on the pistol attachment and the ungibbable stuff.

Yeah, i'm playing through the game without any mods because the savegames don't carry over bewtween mods properly. They all show up on the load game screen, but if you're trying to load a game from a different mod than is selected, it'll bring you to the beginning of the level, no matter how far into it the savegame was.

Screw the disolving id rather see flames ingulf it, a crack open up and swallow the body, or like a hand made of fire pulling it down through the ground. Also, when in hell, it still disolves.
