I have a question regarding dual channel memory. If you have 2 memory chips of the same size and brand, and you have them in dual channel mode, are you able to install a third memory chip and have it run dual channel with the others, or will it be counted as single channel? And will the third chip slow the other 2 down or not?

dual channel only works in equal numbers..

2x 512 = 1GB dual channel..
4x 512 = 2GB dual channel..

but.. 3 will make it default to single channel. you will have 1.5GB of ram (if using 512mb sticks) but it will not be dual channel.

Thanks Asphinx :) I knew they worked in pairs, I just wasnt sure what would happen if a third chip was added...
