Well this has to be the first time i ever posted at a doom forum. Ive been wandering these forums and they're pretty "calm" compared to the mainstream doom forums. Which is cool BTW.
Anyways Ive been experimenting with UT2004 for the past few months and decided to do a mod. I was thinking of either bringing doom or system shock 2 to UT2004. Since im posting in the DHQ forums for jdoom you obviously know what game i decided to "port".
But Im wondering who do i ask for permission to use the md2 models and some of jdooms resources. Im not planning on modifying anything, if i do i will always ask for permission BEFORE. All i plan to do is move these things to the ut04 engine. Nothing else.
But yeah I really am not sure who is who here so fill me in. I want to give the people who created Doomsday and the models their rightful credit.

well, since rereating doom/system shock as tc in annother game is going to get foxed real quick (latest example 'system shock 2 rebooted') so I guess most people would not want thier work included in a project like that

The only way you'd get away with a mod like that is having id's blessing and that aint gonna happen.
I'm sorry but I won't give permission for my models to be used in ut2k4. Despite that it's not like they would just drop in. They would have to be reanimated and they are far too low poly.

Ive seen Rebirth. The models are pretty impressive. I never saw SS2:Rebooted. never did until u mentioned it. But Ive checked the site over some legal action. Apparently EA Games has never heard of the word "mod" and like to be monopolistic. I dont think that Reebooted team would have a problem with me working on my ss2 --> ut04 port. But there goes my 2nd idea.

So no go. Ah well at least i was honorable to ask permission. Heh maybe ill have to make my own models but im still new to 3ds max. Thanks anyway. Good luck on jdooms progress.

Hmm i have wondered. Who else has created model packs for jdoom. Im not going to ask them for permission but maybe a little assistance. I might give it a try to make my own although might take a while. Hmm i guess im going to have to look for a skinner and modellor. Make a small mod team. I just feel doom deserves to be reanimated into bleeding edge engines. But as small project. Oldskool sprite doom i prefer hehe.
BTW: Dani J666. It doesnt really matter if i have to re-animate or if the models are too low poly. It didnt really matter to me. I was only going to experiment transferring models to ut2004. This response is a little late but ive been thinking of another mod idea, an no its not another "port". *smirk*

Um i must be a fool. The models that i wanted to experiment werent Danni 666's creation. These were from the 9mb self extract model pack made by Cheb. Im sorry man i was asking the wrong person then. Um oops. But i have a feeling Cheb will deny it too.
