View Full Version : Briniging Heretic/Hexen up to par with Doom?

Hey guys I was just wondering if were going to bring heretic/hexen up to par with doom?
I will list off everything I know that needs to be done still for those games.

Heretic

1. Models that need to be done (Crossbow hud, Claw Hud, Hellstaff hud, Gargoyle death remains, Lich death remains, Hellstaff ammo small & big, Phoeinx Rod ammo samll & big, shadowsphere, Player models actor showing him with each weapon when he sithches like in doom, and any fallball like golem and gargoyle and bring them up to 3D?)

2. Will you guys also make a enviromental pack with box skies, & fog effect also?

Hexen

1. Models that need to be done (Basicly everything in hexen that is not decorations, and player models the same as doom and the way I ask for heretic?

2. Will you guys also make a enviromental pack with box skies, & fog effect?

3. Will you guys also make a Hexen user interface?

Should you get all that done could you guys put the models in a install file just like you guys did for doom for heretic/hexen?

If you get all that done then all 3 of the games would be up to par and we be set then.

I will pay money to anyone that get everything DeathHell mention finish to bring heretic/hexen up to par with Doom. I am totally serious about payin some money.

Actually, I've finished a LOT of models for Jheretic and sent them to Skyjake, including:

1) All the ammo for all the weapons (that haven't been done already)
2) Most of the remaining environment objects
3) Gibs for organic and non-organic deaths
4) enemy shot objects (including the liche's spiked ice ball and tornado)

And of course, Cain has been working hard to make Jhexen objects, and I'm currently doing KORAX for Jhexen as well. I submitted most of these models quite some time ago, well before the end of last year. Why they haven't been released yet I cannot say.

Skyjake is a busy fellow, with real life issues to deal with. I agree though, it's been a long time since the last model pack update. Still, be patient - eventually Skyjake will gain more time and then perhaps the updates will come......

Well, if I had Hexen (and some spare time) I'd knock up the definitions.

If they have been finished that long ago it's clear that no one is doing anything with them - Can you just release them as they are?

Dani - i could send you the wad - but i guess you still wouldn't have time ,with jdrp being your main focus.

The models "as they are" for me are just md2 files and also the original 3D MAX files. Skyjake has them all as well - if he could post them in the modelyard, then some enterprising coder may be able to work his mojo on them....

Can't you write the definitions Slyrr? They're quite easy once you know the rules.

I'm a modeller/skinner who knows nothing about the coding and such - if I split my focus too many ways I get confused...

The models Slyrr has given me have been in the models/todo directory since March. There's a sticky thread about this subject right on this forum: http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=21610

So far no one has been interested in writing defs for the models. The reason why I haven't written them is that it'll take approx. 3-5 days of meticulous tuning to get them to look just right (including color balancing/tuning the skins), and I just don't have the enough motivation to commit to such a project. (In fact, I mostly just use the sprites when I play. :))

and if I can alter/tweak the models to look better (I only have my own faulty opinions as to what looks good) be sure and let me know! The models and skins can still be changed. I've skimped on polys for some, but I think today's beefy computers and vid cards could handle even more detail if it will make them look good.

Korax now weighs in at 2100 polys and despite being a total wuss in game, I think he'll be one of the best looking 3D translations in a good while...

I've been thinking of making some Hexen textures a little bit. I wouldnt mind doing it but it would have to be completely planned and mapped out in my head before I even start (ie I must study every surface detail of every graphic until I am intimately close to it *uhh* )

sorry, but when I wanted to upgrade my pc for doom 3 I got myself a faulty mobo, I'm still waiting for the replacement so I couldn't do too much, I had the golems skull/fire ingame but since someone else is at it now I won't have to pick it up once the mobo arrives,

lo anyone whos capable can they please take a look at slyrr's mace/rod ammo models. I'm out of ideas on how to get them working
