View Full Version : Multiply lighting not working in 1.8.

I've been using version 1.7.12 for awhile, and I just installed 1.8. I really like it so far (the fake radiosity looks cool), but I have one problem I've noticed: The dynamic lights all appear as additive in-game, even when they're set to multiply or process wo/rendering. It's the same way in both OpenGL and Direct3D modes. I've looked around at every setting I can think of, but I can't find anything that's causing it. Any ideas, or is this just an issue with this version?

If it makes a difference, I have a Radeon 9700 Pro with the latest Catalyst drivers.

Are you using the jDEP? This has fog settings for the all the levels and unfortunetly the fog automatically forces the additive lighting mode (sometimes this looks good as it makes it look like the light is reflecting of the water particles in the air present in thick fog).

If so bring up the console and see if fog off makes any difference.

That's the problem. Thanks! :)

That was actually going to be my next question. I don't care for the look of the fog, and the jdep-nofog patch didn't disable the fog when I installed it. It looks like using 'fog off' in the console only disables it for the current map. Is there a way to disable it permanently, other than using the patch?

No you either need to turn it off on each level or use the no fog version.

Hmm. Then it looks like I can't use jDEP at all if I want multiply lights, unless I can figure out why the nofog patch isn't working.

Thanks, though.
