Newproject my ass off about this all you want... *plop*

I'm starting a new bit called TEH BIG ASST MEGGAWADE (intentional spelling mistakes)

It's going to be a full-fledged community megawad of the most atmospheric wads everyone can come up with. For ZDoom: So that way, the community can all have a chance to be featured in a wad; e.g., MAP01, MAP49, MAP93467, etc... So, make it a ZDoom map, regular Doom2 map, Boom map. I'm asking everyone and anyone who wants to participate to make the most atmospheric or plain scary maps your fiendish little minds can come up with; whether it be a big-ass hell city, like TORMENTOR667'S : THE CITY OF THE DAMNED, or if it's something like "Even Simpler," of Doom64, or maybe even like Job's POINT OF NO RETURN. Good luck... And there's no rush, remember, it's ZDoom : We can have as many maps as we want!

When people start participating, below will be a list of what maps they're assigned to.

MAP01: Befalling Twilight - Me (in progress)

Aww, I don't have ZDoom, they don't make that one for Mac.

This would be an interesting project, I hope you have some sort of proofing/acceptance requirements... otherwise some people might just throw together a Wad with lots of contrasting lights and some imps and call it good. haha.

Lets see... if I made a wad compatbile with Doom II would that work out for your zdoom megawad?

Sure! Vanilla Doom2 works fine. Do you happen to know if they make MacBoom? By the way, changed the name of my map to Colony of the Dead; you can see the stats in my sig, along with everyone working on the project.

So, you wanna make MAP02?

MacDoomer

MacBoom??? hmm, I should look that up, if they have that that would be fun to mess with.

Don't count me in on any maps right now, I got one I am working on for a Lan Party next month (oh heck YEAH) so that is keeping me busy.

But when I get spare time I will definitely try to start working on one for you... what kind of time frame are you looking at for this project to arrive at completion?

EDIT: I'd think somewhere around August of next year... But then, I dunno...

ANOTHER EDIT: Back to Befalling Twilight; It's just a better sounding name to me...

I can definitely have a map done before or within that time frame... That should give most everyone a good amount of time to make decent maps if they should choose to participate in this little project.

OK then, so, MAP02 for you then? Just confirming...
You don't have to think of a name if you don't want to; I've got a couple stashed away...

MacDoomer

I'll just take whatever name you wanna give the map when I give it to ya. haha.

Ok, you're in; AND SINCE SOME PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE WORKING ON THIS PROJECT, HERE ARE THE RULES ALL AROUND FOR ALL MAPS:

1. Fuck detail in the ass, all I care about is the gameplay. Well, actually, try to keep a constant theme and some texture alignment, and maybe a little detail...

2. Please attempt to stay in the time frame...

3. There are open spots for betatesters.

4. Other than those rules, you can do whatever you want.

Just think of it: A huge-ass megawad made in part by Mac Doomers!

EDIT: People who would like to contribute can make more than one map, if you're up to it...

Yah, I agree on the detail thing. Detail is AWESOME, but not at the cost of playability....

Like the original Doom maps? Ah heck yeah, they weren't all that detailed but dang they were addicting to run around in and blow stuff away.

Conversely.... look at Doom II, while still an awesome game, and while I still love it to death... it sure doesn't hold the weight that the first Doom game did. The maps are way more detailed on average, but far less fun a big part of the time.

Just some thoughts.

I concur. And I sure hope some people start replying to this. *what*

And by the way... Go to the THIS IS A USELESS TOPIC topic in the testing forum and follow the link... *giddy*

dude, no offense, but this is a go-nowhere idea. in fact, if it does go somewhere, then the system has failed.

Well, maybe, but at the same time, HACX got off the ground, right? And so did Hexen, right? Seriously though, this is a simple community project; So that means, when nobody wants to do anything else on it, it's done as is.

EDIT : Why do I get the feeling this project is only going to have 2 maps in it? *turvy*

MacDoomer

If it only has two maps then those two maps will just have to be really extraordinary...

I might be able to make you one... I need an excuse to make maps sometimes haha.

I'll participate if I can pull myself together...

I guess MasterOfPuppets was right... The system doesn't work.

hehe, well we will see.

Heck, as long as you got 2+ maps then you can call it successful haha.

Shouldn't be to hard.

my editing computer is dead, I killed it........otherwise I might help :(

MacDoomer

How did you kill it?

Do you just mean the one that had all your resources and editors and stuff?

Cause really any computer should be able to run Doom and its editing apps... So I assume you killed the one that had all your good stuff on it which isn't very cool.

Editing Computer: I'm a lean, mean, speed...thingie!

UPDATE: I just updated the BAMW.wad with some new resources; PSX Doom sounds, my MAP01, and some new music... Yay!

Good Luck, but I have a feeling 'master of puppets' is right, Im too lazy to learn about making zdoom maps and I only make vanilla maps for special projects.

1). I killed it while trying to install a fan on my graphics processor, which was overheating. I guess i have a bad static problem, cause I zapped my ram modules, even with a static protector on my wrist.....

2). That was my main computer......with all my resources, ZDoom and ACS script documentation, contacts, editors, the works.

3). My spare comp sucks...i cant get most editors to work on it......nor ZDoom...

Your CPU didn't already have a heatsink+fan on it? Or you were puttin a better one on? Did you build this computer on your own and neglect to provide adequate cooling? haha.

No...it was given to me as a gift.....the graphics CPU on the video card never had good cooling....

MacDoomer

Oh I see. Those darn video card manufacturers! Haha.

Heh, I just upgraded to a GeForce FX 5500 (256MB DDR VRAM) and a gig of DDR RAM. So, I'll just come out and say it: I'm better than you an there's nothing you can do about it. *grin*
