Hello, most of you proberly know that ~X~, MR.ROCKET and I are working on a megawad.
It is a multiplayer wad called Doom Tournament 2004. It features new game modes never (might have) been seen in Doom Legacy before.
So far, I have programmed a Capture the Flag mode that works exactly the same as ZDaemon CTF (exept when a flag gets dropped it instantly gets returned because of linedef error).
MR.ROCKET is helping with making the maps and he also did the flag textures. ~X~ will be making some maps and will also be programming the Mutant mode.
There will also be a King of the Hill mode along with Double Domination, Tournament and Assault.
Anyway, we hope to get this mod released soon. The release date will be on August the 10th. I am working on a site that will be online soon. I will post screenshots soon.

Sweet as, a doom tournament 2004. Might be a good substitute for UT2004 (Cos my machine is too slow for it :()

Ok everyone, we now have a site for Doom Tournament 2004. It features more information bout DT and screenshots. It also features level and medal information.

~X~, MR.ROCKET and I were testing out the CTF I programmed and we came across an error, the CTF mode in Doom Tournament 2004 will NOT run on Software mode. I am not sure why the Fraggle Script makes it impossable to work CTF in Software. I am going to try and fix it before the release.
Anyway, bout the CTF code. On August the 8th I will be releasing the CTF source code and a test map for those who are intrested in making CTF maps for Legacy. It is fully functional (exept the software mode error and when the flag gets dropped and it instantly returns). All it is is a FS script, NO EXE REPLACEMENTS!!!, YAY. *bliss*
Anyway, enjoy the screenshots ive posted in the post before this one. ;)

hmm wierd , i musta missed that meeting lol.
my map with the script runs fine in software and opengl both as far as i can tell. whats the error there ? are you baseing the error off a map? or do we plan on doing some corona stuff? clue me in :P
in anycase this should be moved to the mods or "game mode" area of the forum heh.

Aside from the buildings only being in 3 variations and terrible texture alignment and other such shortcomings (all floors being identical except for textures wich seemed to be somewhat tossed together w/o seeing if they fit with eachother) it was a very nice map...
Looking at my answer it sounds like it didn't like it very much. but I did.. would be nice to test it in DM sometime.. Think I'll ask a friend of mine to come over and create our own little "battle royale"

it is true that there is not enough different building and that the textures are not align but he is not finished and I would make it bigger. :D
I made it quickly yesterday and I didn't take the time to align the textures. I wanted to see what one levels would give with buildings in 3D
I would align the textures later and I would make new buildings in order to replace the copies ;)

Anyway.. since the topic is about dt2004, i would like to say that i enjoyed every minute of the game and in my oppinion it's even better that the flag is instantly taken back to the base after one gets shot. The flag sprites were nice also. I had some trouble joining in the action at first, since i didn't realise that i have to choose either BRIGHT blue or BRIGHT red.. i chose the darker ones first. But that is just a minor flaw. It's all good especially when a fast server is running it and the ping isn't too high. I liked it.

I don't think we could DM in anything like Xerxes's map.. theres so much there it lags down to a craw.

the colored lighting will be from bottom to top - normal light ,light blue , dark blue.
just haven't done it yet :P
This is the central area between the red and blue team bases , still under construction.
And here's a texture flat I decided to do , from this angle it almost looks like its 3d heh , so it turned out ok :P
I know I should made it as a x2 flat but wasn't sure if it would have tiled right so I manually tiled it.
yep 9 64x64 flats/3dfloors.

Frades, nice piano, and it's good to hear you liked Doom Tournament 2004's CTF mode when we tested it a few weeks back.
Anyway, I have got some info about the Mutant game mode but I need to see ~X~ first before I tell everyone incase he has changed some of the gameplay.
Also, Rocket, your map looks awsome, can't wait to play it.:D

It ran perfectly fine for me.. even tested in it Software and it was still running smooth.

Because Doom Legacy functions badly in Software when him there too much 3DFloors :(

Here is the latest info on the levels that will be featured in Doom Tournament, heres what we have done so far...
Tournament game type:
Capture the Flag game type:
Double Domination game type:
Assault game type:
King of the Hill game type:
Mutant game type:
1 or 2
We still have a lot of work to do but we WILL meet the release date of August the 11th.

With the assault game mode i've decided to change it. Insted, the objective is kinda diffrent. You have a base and the enemy has a base. In your base there is an explosive. A player on your team must pick up your teams explosives and diliver them to the enemys base. When you are there, you must plant the explosives. That will take 10 seconds. When they have been planted, you better get your ass outta there or...
Anyway, more news on the assault mode is comming.

Wow, this simply is wow. I can't wait for this. BTW, how do the bots function with the entire CTF thingy? Do they know what a flag is? :D

Unfortunately, I'm afraid bots wont be to CTF friendly in the mod , unless we are able to hunt down TonyD and have him code us up some DT mod specific bot AI for it :P

Welp so you all can have an idea of how the project going so far heres a shot of the ctf part of the mod which is i'd say about 90% complete and working rather well.
The project its self though is probbly about 50% as of right now. i hope to make the release date that wad annouced before he ran off heh , but right now all i can say is , when its done.
Oh and btw i drew up some new flags :P
These are not skins , they are thing items which fallow you around. I took the screenhsot in sliptsceen 2 player game so you could see both views of the players holding the flag , and yes works good in that mode aswell :)

15 more days guys till DT2004 is released! *weird*
We have the Assault mode complete. Heres how it will run.
You start out in your base and you must grab your teams explosives from your armoury. When you grab the expolsives, you can't shoot, all you can do is hold the explosives. You must assault the enemys base and get to the reactor.
You can do that or protect the bomb carrier or simply, defend the base.

BTW, how do the bots function with the entire CTF thingy?
By what we've tested, the bots can't even get out of the team selection room and into the level. Changing teams in Doom Tournament 2004 can be done by changing your colour in the player setup menu or by the console.
For the bots to work what Doom Legacy needs is a function like "addbot color 6" or "addbot color 7". But I am not sure if it already has that.
Anyway, we will try our best to get the bots working well.

I was testing a level I made for Doom Tournament 2004 the other day and relised that, why did I put a chainsaw in this level if it is almost pointless in multiplayer?
So, I had an idea, why don't I replace the chainsaw with a new weapon?
So I got to work but I did not know what new gun to make, any ideas?

You will be able to use skincolor() to set a player or bot's skin colour in the next version of legacy. I used this to make a team balancing system in a mod I did a while back.

The idea of having an ingame shop is pretty cool too!

DT2004 still features everything promissed. Here is a full list of the featured game modes
Capture the Flag
King of the Hill
Also DT2004 is compadable to also do...
Team King of the Hill
DT2004 will feature a new weapon and it will most likely be a buzzsaw.
There are 2 new items also.

6 more days till Doom Tournament 2004 is released!
DT2004 may not feature a medal system in the first release due to scripting errors that we have come across but we asure you that we will have it in a later update.
DT2004 will require the following to run...
-Doom Legacy 1.42
-Software mode. Doom Legacy needs to run in Software mode or higher to be able to run DT
-56k internet connection or higher (for online play)
-Doom Legacy 1.42b (birthday edition)
-OpenGL or higher (You don't have to have this to run DT). May have errors on some maps with Software mode for some computers
-A reliable internet connection (for online play. 56k might lag on some servers)
Those requirments are the basic ones needed to run Doom Tournament 2004.

"Doom Tournament 2004 FIRST SERVER EVER!!!"
In 5 days from now and that server should be up and running.
We asure you that Doom Tournament 2004 will not be delayed.

When you go to that site click on Downloads and get it from there.
It will be uploaded in 5 days.

4 more days till Doom Tournament 2004 is released!
Doom Tournament features 30 new multiplayer levels. We have praticly finished them all. :)
Also, we have finished Doom Tournament 2004s new weapon, the Buzzsaw.
This weapon is alot faster than the normal chainsaw making it more handy to use.

Doom Tournament 2004 RELEASED TOMMOROW!!!
Well, its been tougth to get 30 levels complete and 6 game modes coded, but ~X~, MR.ROCKET and I have finaly finished Doom Tournament 2004 and it is now awaiting to be uploaded to http://wadaholic.tripod.com/doomtournament2004/
We would like to thank everyone for their support.

Bot's can't capture the flag? Make an Item near flag, they will go there ;).
