View Full Version : Looking To Create A Mod; Need A 'Crew'

Hey guys, I've been wanting to make a mod for Doom2 for a while, and now I've decided to try. I can create textures and the like, but anyone with mapping skills and anything else useful is much apreciated. The basic concept will be like that of Half-Life; human enemys, as well as demons. I'm working on a story as I type. Anyone willing to lend a hand? I plan to work in some Counter Strike gun screen shots :)
Also, anyone know why my Sig isnt working? Is this site using the [IMG] tags? Thanks.

Sig wise, are you clicking the "show signature" box before posting? Yes this board uses [img] codes.
If you are putting an image in your sig, please make sure you have read the FAQ/Rule (http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11812) thread. :)

Alright, newb problem here; how exactly do I edit the main WAD? I have WinTex and it won't let me edit 'Maydoom.wad' (Just copied Doom2.WAD). It says it is the main wad, so I can't edit it. I've made a new wad, but obviously it is blank so I guess this is just a long winded way of sayin; I'm Stuck! :p

wintex won't allow you to edit an IWAD (such as doom2.wad) you'll need to make a new wad. in wintex just click the "new" option under "file"

yea I got it all working. I hate how 'pixel critical' it is, I have to go in and erase the white around the pistol so much. heh. Oh, finally got the counter strike USP pistol working. :D Not lookin terribly great but its better then when I started.

what program are you using for editing these sprites? i would recomend photoshop or paint shop pro.

Im using MX Fireworks for the most part. Just have to set the brushes and 'raser to a 0 Edge, havent had any noticeable sections of white yet.

Thats cool, anyone interested in joining or even just helpin out. For instance, I cant seem to edit the ROF of my pistol/rifle. I edit it just find in WhackED2, but I cant save it as a wad... well i can but I cant load the wad with wintex or jDoom afterwards... help???

jDoom does not work with dehacked patches. i think.

Jdoom only works with dehacked patches that are saved into a wad. DeepSea can load DeHacked objects into a wad. But not all modifications work on jdoom ( Such as editing the maximum health).
I would help you but i'm already making a 32 level TC and i'm quite busy already

Jdoom only works with dehacked patches that are saved into a wadin that case what you could do is load the dehacked file inot a wad as a lump with the name colormap, the goto guru only>change entry name and change colormap to dehacked

XWE lets you load dehack patches with out making it into a lump. you just need to make sure the file is named dehacked so it'll see it as such.

OysterBoy, before you start asking for help on your new mega-cool-and-whatnot project, make sure you have something to show first (screenshots, map downloads, etc). Keep in mind we've already seen thousands of upcoming projects that actually never got done.

Thanks Oysterboy, err, by the way, don't use the Norcgames hotmail becuase it has been HACKED! Use the E-mail I gave you. And by the way, thanks to Doomsday, Bionova will now feature Colormaps, XG scripting and possibly new weapons.
Oh , by the way Oyster, how 'bout those Rifle\pistol screens you were talking about? coyuld you e-mail them to me?

Keep in mind we've already seen thousands of upcoming projects that actually never got done. Planky, before you start trying to act mega-cool-and-whatnot by using the newproject tag, make sure you check that the person doesn't have something to show first (screenshots, map downloads, etc). Keep in mind we've already seen thousands of uses of the newproject tag that only succeeded in making the person using it look like a complete moron, because they did have something to show.
