Every time I make a multiplayer game I receive a message like this after 30 minutes of have been playing. Any ideas?

Picked up a blue keycard.
G_DoReborn for 1.
G_DoReborn for 1.
Picked up a yellow keycard.

When you start Kicks, in the misc tab there should be Memory box. It should read 32. Increase it to 128.

the general rule is to allocate 1/4th of your availible memory unless its less then 32MB. EXAMPLE:

I have 1GB of ram so I allocate 256MB of ram to it, if you have 512MB then that would be 128MB.

I have 256Mb of RAM ATM, but I'll be upgrading later in the year. I assign 128Mb of RAM to the game, and it runs fine, with no problems. You'll hit problems if you assign more than 3/4s of you're memory to the game. Remember that an untweaked WinXP uses 128Mb RAM anyway.

I just tweaked mine, and I got it down to 18 processes and using 77 MB of memory without all of the extra stuff running.

When I upgrade to XP (or the next thing, can't be far away now), I'll tweak it as well. I don't see why it has to run so many services and processes in the background anyway, most the typical user never uses.

Some are for specific devices so its easier just to turn those on to save headaches at tech support. I guess your average user benefits from Indexing. All the logging might be useful. But I don't think they're worried about recieving admistrative alerts though. But look at all the programs there are for turning off messanger.

2006 is just around the corner.:p Unless that XP Reloaded nonsense is true.

kwel, mine is 16 processes (counting 2 non XP processes: Fast cache (my little mini DNS server and tea timer from spybot search and destroy 1.3.) with a total of 70MB on boot. I am sure its about 64MB or so if I take off thsoe programs but they are useful to me and one helps keep all the riff raff our and the other speeds up my internet via DNS cache hits.

Got mine down to 15 processes.
And to around 120 megabytes. What am I missing?

read this: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

this will help, if you aren't sure about a service then click on it, open in a new windo and read about it. This should really help you tweak your windows XP. It has always helped me, please read the entire article becauseit really helps. This is the best service tweaking site I have found so far. It is very wordy, has plenty of information and even explains what services does what.

this is a part of PC tweaking Basics 101, this brings you one step closer to being a pc enthusiast. By the way you can't call yourself a PC enthusiast if you haven't cracked the seal of your PC's case, hell, there isn't an area I touched inside my pc, my PC isn't shy to show everything its got. Besides, now that I touched it, placed and removed parts, rewired the case etc, it feels like mine, unlike some computer I bought at a store which never felt like mine until I messed around with it.

lmao! You already been there? Then there are 2 possabilities, one you need all those services, or two something else is taking up your memory.

Well, I didn't count all the unnessecary tasks(winamp, hotkey control, etc.).
I went to the Blackviper site and tweaked some more. Now I have 14 proccesses running besides all the other extras.

go into msconfig and clear out all those start menu crap, it will still be there when you uncheck it and there isn't a real benefit to having those startup. I am talking about non important stuff such as winzip winrar etc.
