help on modem style!

I need help on playing on the modem option on doom.
I use modem connection for DirectPlay, then "dial new number", then "join game", then they ask for country code, area code, phone number, location, calling card and TAPI card.
well, I know the country and the phone number but not the area number, or the other options. what should I do now?

well, step one would be getting a source port. take your pick. each has its own features. most people have mutliple ones.

thanks. I have now the Zdoom1.22 and the Zdaemon. anything else? well, its unlikely you will be able to play anybody when your using ZDoom 1.22. the standard today is version 2.0.63 this one (http://www.zdoom.org/files/lars/63.cab)

but sense you have ZDaemon, all you have to do is open the ZDaemon Launcher. just be sure to copy the Doom2.wad into your ZDaemon folder, and you are all set.

I'd like to start playing doom using a modem link, although I have no idea how to go about it. I have 'The Ultimate Doom', so could someone explain in n00b-friendly terms exactly what I need, what they're for and what to do with them? Please bear in mind I'm running XP.

I'm not entirely sure my version is legit, and I'd like to actually purchace a copy to be happy and so its all complete. Anybody know where to look?
