View Full Version : Freeing Up Slot Space

Due to four members of the NDCP team no longer responding to emails and or Private messages over a long period of time they have been dropped from the project. Lut, Face.Uk, Derek and Archvile64 have not been seen or heard from after repeated attempts to contact them. This frees up five map slots. Both Sparky and myself have agreed that they should be dropped and if they ever do re-appear and wish to have a finished map in the NDCP megawad then they'll just have to wait for a slot to become free again. That's assuming any one of them wakes up from whatever sleep they're in. Heh. Sorry for dropping anybody but we would like to get this project finished this year if possible. The following maps are now free if anybody wants to do a map.

Map31

I'll hold map27 for Ninja_of_Doom who said he wanted to do anouther map in the 20's.

damn i wish i could take one, but i'm coordinating a Community Project on Doom Wad Station, which i do not wish to get distracted from.

I would take another slot, but I'm concentrating on Doom Zephyr right now, and life is getting in the way of working on it a lot, so i don't think I'll pick up another slot right yet.

it was also decided that any member that is currently doing a map cannot take another slot until there first map is finished
this goes for new members wanting to do 2 slots aswell

this doesnt count for people that already are doing 2 maps at once

Well I just learned how limitng it is to do vanilla editing. The map I've got done just now just isn't right. I'm too used to designing for legacy wherer I have more flexability. As a result I withdraw my map from the project. So map 27 is now another free slot.

Yeah it was a bit odd to not map for Legacy in this project :P I'm so use to Legacy stuff I got to keep reminding myself "this is a normal doom2 map"

We need a legacy project like this! yes.. yes we do!

yup we do but lets finish the vanilla one first. Could always make fancied up legacy versions of your maps too, just to keep yourself happy, thats what I do, my map06 for freedoom became sekkusu, a massive 3d extravaganza for legacy.

I wish I hadnt rushed that one out so fast, its funny, sometimes I cant wait to release a new wad, I get all hyperactive and anxious, then as soon as its uploaded and Ive told everyone about it I load it up in legacy then notice loads of bits I want to change.

Ok MOP got map09. :D

All you need to know is were making it non-port specific but a limit removing port will be required to play. Were not following any theme and maps don't have to look anything like thier Doom 2 counterparts. The resource wad holds some new textures you might want to use. I'll send you the password for that.

DD if you do all those maps you'll exploed IMO. How can you juggle that many maps anyway? DON'T mention megawads.:D That's just an excuse.:p

Like I said I'll do them if I have to. I'm hoping that somebody else will take up the slack so I won't have to do that but I'm very determined to get this done. If that means I gotta do the last 3 or 4 maps myself I'll do it. I really want to see this project get finished...

I can reinsert my Lavaplant map if I have to. :p

What Legacy project? That thing died I think as it never left the ground.

Yeah:) Every secret map I've seen has some weird theme to it like a multi colour theme from Alien Vendetta or something like it.:D

Well, it doesnt have to be crazy like that, guys. Since it's been established that the secret exit to map 31 wont be hidden, there's no concrete reason to make the 'secret' levels krazy at all, because really theyre part of the map lineup now.

I agree it's good that the maps don't have to be like their DooM II counterparts but the last thing we need is a UAC base level stuck right in between something like The Spirit World and The Living End.:D

It will be a hellish map with all kinds of "weird" stuff in it.

Well I've started up Map16. It seems to be looking pretty good. For the first few areas.Though if anyone decides to put a clear texture in the resource wad, it would be used. Hmm I'll try to think of a good name for the level.

hmm well i'm having a bit of trouble with my map. I am using Legacy to Test it, and in OpenGL mode the map looks great, no flaws. But in Software mode, there are a few problems with it. So I was wondering if you would rather me make it work for OpenGL or for Software.

Amen. Map 32 is the polar opposite of "crazy" (unless you find one of the secret areas), despite being a "super secret" (heh!)map.

Pumpkin that sounds like you have GL driver problems or somethin. How can textures be in a different alignment?

I think its a legacy flaw, I remember when I released grail2 it was fine in opengl but some of the textures lined up wrong in software. I never use software mode normally so didnt really care.

same thing with a few of my 'mystic' series of wads, the ones with the 'void' areas in them dont work in software mode.

I'm no longer in for map27. As far as I heard from Sparky, I can do map29 now, which I'm already working on. (Check the Post Up Your Maps-thread for a WIP shot)
