Hi guys, Im glad to announce Im back into editing after about 8 months of writers block, also glad to see the NDCP thing is still on the go.
Can one of you remind me where my secret exit has to go to (Im working on level 15, it has to have 2 exits if I remember rightly).
DOOM DUDE, I will put a unfinished version of my map15 online for you to download just so you know how its going, I still have a bit of work to do on it, mainly tidying up, adding some more details, placement of monsters, keys etc and adding the exits. I will send the link by email once its uploaded.

MYSTIC!! Great to see you again.:D I don't knwo wheter you notice this but one of the switches (near the start I think) of map02 is a legacy switch and seeing as this is for Vanilla I thought you may need to know. :)

hmm, well we have 2 options
we can have a normal exit and a secret exit
or just a normal exit that goes to map 31
a vote??

I like to have those EXTRA levels, that you don't HAVE to complete, but you CAN complete them, if you want to and if you can find the secret exit.

I can't remember what we decided on way back when we started this project. I remember us talking about just putting in normal exits thus eliminating secret maps. Overall it doesn't really matter.
secret switch in map15 ----> map31
secret switch in map31 ---> map32

i agree with DD, i don't think you should have to hunt around and chance missing a level in a community wad.

I say just have the normal exit lead you right to the secret levels. That way you DO play all 32 levels.

I didnt know there were legacy switches. I will look into it, gives me a chance to make a few improvements to that map.
Hmm, so the consensus is we have a normal exit and a hidden exit to a secret level and a normal exit leading straight to the secret level and no secret level exit.
Thanks guys, Im glad you all cleared that up for me

Just put your secret exit switch out in the open and it'll go right to the next map which will be map31.

well, ok, I will make it right in the open in a room thats really hard to find, hehehe.
About map02, I dunno what switch ninja was on about, my switches all look normal to me.
OH DD, Ive sent a link to you so you can check my progress on map15, its not finished but is playable, still got a few things I want to add before I decide on things placement etc.

It's near the satrt, in the room across from the start point. Try it. And check in your editor.

Really? Maybe I've got the olde version here.:D I'll re download the map from NDCP.
EDIT: Still shows up as and unkown linetype. I don't get it.

ahh a linetype, I thought you meant the switch texture on the wall. Hmmm I better take a look at that, bugger, I hope whatever its doing can be done with a 'legal' line type

Yea, maybe that's because people want to get a new excuse to explain why their maps aren't finished.
I can see it now: "Sorry fellas, but I've been too busy at newdoom forums to get any mapping done."

Ah so that's what the confusion was about. I always meant the switch itself, not the texture. If I said the texture was bad I would have said so. Notice how I said Legacy switch. Since when was there a legacy only switch texture?:D

Is it the linetype 166 ??? to raise a floor to nearest ceiling?
if it is can someone tell me a legal linetype to do the same thing?
Ive been mapping like a maniac lately, even updating that isis.wad (dont download it, Ive not uploaded the new version yet) I released last year, trying to find out why it wont work for all those folks at doomworld, maybe they just say that about any legacy stuff (unless its made by their buddies) I noticed only two legacy wads made it into their top 100, that smacks of bias.

No chance Mystic. I can't find any vailla lines that server the same purpose. Best thing to do is to lower the floor instead of raising the ceiling which can be easily done by the look of things. Give it a shot and see.:) But that's all you can do.

I better check the other line types while Im at it. I have the doom hackers guide under my mouse mat, it will be the first time since about 1997 that Ive looked at it.

No problem.I'd play through it to check it myself but it's too late just now. *yawns*
