MY idea was since Doom 3 is a retelling of the original doom you have a showdown with the cyberdemon in hell

There will be this big wall with a demon face on it with a hole in its head. And little cubes come out of it and spwan monsters. And you have to shoot two rockets into its brain to defeat it. That will be the final level.

its a retelling of doom 1 though

Plus the Icon of Sin was such a terrible boss that hopefully id won't be fool enough to repeat it.

It would be cool if the boss wasn't actually a moving thing, but could manipulate the environment; like lower/raise ceilings, move/alter walls, form hands out of pillars.

Untrue. I'm sure that it will be similar, but it's not "retelling". I think Carmack himself has said something like, "Forget Doom ever happened. This isn't a remake - It's a whole new experience."

Of course its a new 'EXPERIENCE' but its still Doom isnt it... I dont remember him saying forget Doom but they DID say that they were going to try to be realistic about the setting because they know Mars' moons have little or no gravity so they were gonna set the base on Mars itself instead... Ok fine.. They did say its a retelling but what Im wondering is are they going to include the Doom 2 story of Hell on Earth? I mean.... our poor incompetent marine fought so hard through all 4 episodes of Ultimate Doom but "whats that?? .... Earth got invaded anyways???..... g** d***IT!!" so maybe an expansion pack?

It would be cool if they had the actual baphomet as the boss, not just a pic of him on a wall.

I don't know what is is either, so I Googled it. I did find an explanation of Nyarlathotep, and it would fit the mood, but not Doom.

I have a feeling the last boss will probably be like the boss of the first episode of Quake 1... I remember what it was like to see that for the first time.. but somehow I picture something like that for the last guy on Doom 3. Gigantic creature swimming in lava throwing stuff at you... heh..

if they make a new boss for doom III, i dont want it just to be big and bad. i want it to be scary. i want to be scared by the final boss in doom III.

Ninja_of_DooM

Just the final boss? I hope the whole game scares me. I want it to have me on the edge, tense and afraid of the shadows. It'll be the first game that's ever truly scared me.:D

Doom 3 is a retelling of Doom 1 right? So the ending is obvious. And Doom 4 takes place on Earth if ID is up to making a sequel. For the Boss, probably the cyberdemon.

Ninja_of_DooM

It supposed to be a remake of the original DooM game. It isn't a rehash where thye just throw the same plot into a game with fancy new graphics and effects. That doesn't work. In DooM III, DooM never happened. The UAC accidentally destory one of Helll's gateways to another dimension so Hell decides to attack them for it. That shoudl clear it up.:D

I'd go with Ninja on this. It's better that it doesn't mirror the original games so closely. Most people will probably want to see a new Doom game, in the same universe as the others, but not a direct remake. Classic Doom fans might want something closer to the original games, but let's face it: classic Doom isn't as highly regarded now as it once was, and id are no doubt hoping to bring a lot of new gamers on board. Such a direct remake of the old games wouldn't help this much.

And it's just that people nowadays just want to see a game with a complex plot line. IMO opinion there's sometimes just nothing better than grabbing a gun a blasting anything that moves until it's dead DooM or Serious Sam style.:D

John himself said something along the lines of A games storyline is like that of a porno's, its expected to be there just not good.

Maybe this is just me, but I'm growing tired of all these games with 'big bad bosses' that are 20 stories tall.

What about fighting a boss that's so powerful that they don't need to be a million feet high? He could be the same size as the marine, but use his power to manipulate objects in the room or other monsters or whatever.

Just a thought.

*cool*

Ooh, I remember Turok's boss. He was bad-ass. He was the same size as the player, but he could jump around like a jack-rabbit and zoom around like nothing else.

ok, the best idea for the final level/boss of doom 3 would be this...

You go into a large room and you see Hitler infront of a speechbox thing, yelling in a microphone in german and pointing. Next thing you know, hundereds of german soldiers are watching Hitlers rally. All these soldiers are also zombie/skeleton soldiers. Once you start to spray and prey, hitler begins to yell "Onward Brave Aryans!!!" in a german accent and u begin to be flooded by nazis.

You go into a large room and you see Hitler infront of a speechbox thing, yelling in a microphone in german and saying "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" then you, scarecrow, the tin man, the lion and the dog miss your hotair balloon, and so you click your ruby red combat boots together saying "there's no place like home..." and you wake up in an insane assilum somehwere in conneticut.

there, i fixed it for you.

How about no bosses at all? I'm tired of them. It's something I can expect from a second-grade game. "Oh wow, this game is cool, but I know it's gonna have a boss, as usual." I'm sick of them! Halo didn't have one. Deus Ex didn't have one. Riddick didn't have one. Why should Doom 3 have one? Is it your need to kill the boss-of-all-bosses? The enemy-of-all-enemies?

Maybe it's all the horrible bosses of games of the past that have gotten to me, or something. If Doom 3 has a boss, I hope ID makes it creative instead of just walking into a room, a cut-scene, the boss shows up, and then an all-out frag-fest begins.

Hyperflash has a point. I think that a gigantic boss enemy thing is USUALLY (like, not always :p) pretty dull, but a boss FIGHT, with tons of monsters coming from all directions would be a nice thing to see. Or maybe not tons of monsters, but perhaps a few less, but tactically placed monsters could do the job.

*First post on the forum.*

How about we have to close the portal that the demons are comming through? There could be a bunch of guys pouring through with a few big unique beast that are not much stronger than the cyberdemon, but still reasonable to make it a challenge. I figure just pumping some plasma blasts at the gate they are comming through to cause it to collapse on itself.

Or-

Jumping through a portal leading back to earth and having a few unique super deamons follow you right before the portal closes. They could be marching through a big city like NY, Tokyo, London, or maybe something like Miami (its close enough to hell already) and you have to hold them off while back up shows up.

I take it everyone's seen how large, mean, and evil the Hell Knight is in Doom 3? Now imagine how badass the other, greater demons will be... I bet the you the Baron of Hell will be larger, the Cyberdemon will eat you for breakfast, the Spider Mastermind will chew you up and spit you out, and Arch-Vile will be one mother of an enemy... and maybe Mancubus will be a semi-decent fight. Also, who knows what unique greater demons will be. *eek*

On a side note I hope the Nightmare Imps make a return from Doom 64, they kicked ass, but not that floaty end-boss thing it was pathetic. *burn*
