Router Problems

My brother and I are on a router. Me, my brother, and my cousin are trying to play Doom Legacy. My cousin creates a server and only one of us can join it. The other person just stalls on connect. Also, when me or my brother try to create a sever, my brother can connect but my cousin cannot. Is there any way to fix this ?

You could use splitscreen. The problem is some one has to use different controls & the screen is a bit small.

Easier to draw this out, but you and your brother are behind a router, behind this router is your internal ip address, which is all good and dandy considering both you and your brother can use , lets say port 6500 on your INTERNAL ip.

Now on your external ip address you and your bro are sharing this behind the router. So if someone is using port 6500 behind the router and sourcing it out to your EXTERNAL ip address then its used, merry xmas, you snooze u lose basicly.

So if your cousin is hosting out in North carolina in his barn on port 6500 and you and your bro are BOTH trying to utilize the same port there will be an issue. So your brother or yourself will have to change the port to 6800 or something.

Since you and your bro are both behind a router the problem here is that your cousin cant access the port your hosting on ie:6500 so what you need to do is forward the 6500 port to your machine. This way the outside world can hook up to your machine via that port.

Remember since you and your brother are both behind a router, the rest of the world doesnt know that. So if your using your external ip address's 6500 port your brother is just crap out of luck using it and will have to configure for something different since sharing a network behind a router is in essense sharing an external ip address via the internet.

that's weird because my bro and I are behind a router
(on a network like this: computers====hub-----hub==othercomp&router the = is two cables)we both can go on the same server at the same time and nither of us get stalled. I can even host a game (with my firewall down) and my bro and my freind from down the street can join.
