Hi,
A coupla days ago I saw that chivalence had done some damn cool artwork in another thread, and asked him if he might want to illustrate an intro sequence to Final Doom that I came up with. He said he might, so here's the intro sequence... basically it'll be an image, then a screen of text, and so on. Pretty self-explanatory really. I might make it shorter- i.e. 4 images instead of 8, and have more text instead, if 8 is too many images. Anyway...
1. Image: Doom marine, rocket launcher in hand, standing over the corpse of the final boss in Doom 2.
Text: Finally, after months of some of the most intense combat ever endured, you had done it. You had found the demon responsible for the invasion of Earth, and blown it's brain to pieces. The war was over. All that was left now was to rebuild. Surely now, after all that had happened, humanity would be able to learn that some forces are best left untampered with?
2. Image: a UAC boardroom meeting, with a group of executives being shown a projected image of a teleportation device.
Text: Like Hell. Several months later, and the UAC was reformed, it's new management determined to resurrect the matter apportation experiments of their predecessors. To ensure the safety of Earth from invasion, these experiments would take place deep in the solar system, on one of the moons of Jupiter. They would be carried out under the strictest supervision.
3. Image: a heavily armed troop transport ship, heading for one of Jupiter's moons.
Text: The government weren't taking any chances this time. A heavily armed force of marines were to be sent in to secure the base, and make sure that any aliens making it through the new gates would be greeted by instant vaporisation. Considering your experience, the UAC asked you to lead them. You agreed, determined to prevent any of those demon bitches from setting foot in our dimension again.
4. Image: an interdimensional gate with a group of marines set up in defensive positions around it, blasting the demons that try to rush through. The marines are winning, shown the dozens of demon corpses on the floor.
Text: Half-machine, half-alien beasts poured through the gates, but they were no match for the marines. They were cut to pieces. After several hours, the latest invasion was stopped in it's tracks. Or so everyone thought...
5. Image: a radar screen showing a large blip heading for it's centre.
Text: Several months later, and the research base's radar station picked up the signal of what appeared to be the supply ship arriving with it's yearly delivery. But something was wrong. This blip was a month early to be the supply ship, and was far larger than that craft's radar signature should have been.
6. Image: a giant, alien space-craft, high above the research station. The radar station's staff look up at it in terror.
Text: As they stepped outside to look up at the incoming vessel, the radar staff realised what was wrong. The craft above them was in fact an immense alien transport ship! Before they could even send out a distress signal, a storm of demons was cascading down all over the base! The marines, expecting an attack through the gates, were caught completely off guard, and slaughtered.
7. Image: The Doom marine strolling across the surface of the moon (similar area to the sky background of Doom 1, Episode 1). An imp is creeping up on him, growling.
Text: Unfortunately for the aliens, you were not at the base. You were taking a stroll across the rocky surface of the moon, relaxing and admiring the scenic nature of the area. This was supposed to be your rest period. But that was all about to change. An alien growl interrupted your meditations, and in that instant, you knew it was all about to begin again.
8. Image: The Doom marine running toward the base (it's in the distance), that has the alien space-ship looming over it. The imp the marine has just shot is falling to the ground, shot to pieces, in the foreground.
Text: You spin around and give the abomination a welcoming present: a clip full of bullets, delivered by your trusty beretta. But as it falls to the ground, dead, you notice the monstrous transport ship above the base. Your men must have been taken completely by surprise! Those walking piles of demon excrement are going to pay...
Okay, so... tell me what you think, or if you want to do some of the artwork!
Cheers!
