i have a ATI Radeon 9600, and tenebrae isant designed, or so i gathered that its not, to run with this type of card technology, it was made more for a glide card. i was kinda hoping someone knew HOW to make it work, i just get errors when i attempt to mess with it. Such as Glide2x.dll is missing etc etc... if i find a copy of that file, it generates another error i cant remember at the moment, as far as i know i have the newest verison of both drivers and Tenebrae. I like tenebrae, i think it looks fantastic, but on a old 16MB card i actually tried it on before, i got like 16fps, with a 256MB i was hoping to have better luck. if someone knows how, or if someone KNOWS its NOT possible, let me know, i jsut want to know, lol

thanks

Are you saying that it wont run on your 9600? Because it ran on my 9000. Also, Tenebrae uses opengl, right? 3dfx cards are known not to do as well with opengl as its not internally supported (its emulated to a degree with Glide). D3D on 3dfx's is even worse. Funny cause glide was the fastest video ..thingy (api?).

Are you sure its Tenebrae and not GLGuake. Tenebrae probably couldn't run on a Voodoo5 6000.

no, it wont run on the 9600... i had it running before on a Voodoo banshee 16MB card, but it was ASS slow...

and it might be, i would guess that tenebrae has a modified GLquake engine, so at the heart i would think thats whats crashing... but it IS tenebrae thats installed, thats not working

I could never get Tenebleagh to work due to it hating my Radeon 8500. Heh. :p

For my card I had to disable the tenebrae versions of coronae, whatever they were called. Im amazed it wont run on a 9600, but will on a 9000....weird indeed.

I'd have to install it again to find out. Might be 'glows' or 'Flares' or something, but for me those just locked me up solid.

This may sound funny, but if you install GLQuake and delete all the .dlls in the folder, Quake will build some new ones that will be compatible with your card. When I did it, I didn't delete every single one, but I can't tell you which ones that I removed, because I've had a reformat since then.

I installed Hexen 2 on my comp on Saturday, hoping it would run very nice on my 9800pro, but I got a glide2x.dll error, so I could only run it in software mode. It was fine, except for when I went to the menu, it was at like 3fps because of some sort of effetc in the background to the menu.

The dll your talking about is OpenGL32.

I was jsut going ot say it will work on a 9600 Pro because I tried it on mine 9mind you it ran ass slow anyway with all the advanced features, tenebrae is not very optimized so thats one reason it runs slow, haven't tried it on my Geforce FX 5900, I will try it on a future card so i can play it with better quality and decient speed.

Reminds me of Halo on PC *bug*

I had Tenebrae working on my Mobility Radeon (16MB) It was kind of slow but playable to a limited extent. It was playable on my Geforce 2 MX-400, and pretty awesome on my friend's Geforce 4 TI-4400. We did get it to lag on there too though. :D I've never had a driver problem with it at all.

I am talking about with all those high rez skins/models/textures etc. Ya know all the eye candy options, because if everything is just going to look almost the same as the original quake then I might as well play GLQuake, Tenebrae is great for a tech demo but not all that great for a game as its hard to get decient playable frames without having a major reduction in quality (read: no AA or AF, Low resolutions, most of the settings set to off (although some wont turn off I noticed). I could go on and on). I am not bashing Tenebrae because its simply beautiful but its overkill and heavily unoptmized in my opinion. I will play it when I get one of those next gen cards.

Ask Looney what I told him to do about that HeXen II problem because it's early morning right now and I can't remember. I think you have to remove the opengl32.dll

yes, that forces the game to use your drivers instead of the OpenGL functions in that file. Personally I would rather use my drivers then that file anyway.

That file for the Voodoo1 & 2 since they didn't support OpenGL and Carmack wasn't going to make a GlideQuake even though it said he was going to add D3D to Q2 in the readme it never happened.

mine is a regular 9600, 256MB it runs at 40fps - 50 fps with most features turned on, if i turn down the res to 640 x 480 and turn off some features i can get slightly more, but otherwise its a stable 45ish... thats not bad at all, thats very playable actually, i'm in the middle of a game, USING tenebrae as my main executable, i think it roxors

good luck with the new skins, the new models, the new textures. Those things take a massive GPU/VPU to get decient framerates.

well you have to download them in various places but be warned.

your computer will LAG really bad if you have anything higher then 640x480 resolution, be sure to turn off some ofhter options in the launch menu. I believe you should get around 30-40 FPS.

here are some models: http://switch.to/qmodels

here are some textures: http://switch.to/doom2textures

here are some skins: http://www.planetquake.com/pandemonium/tenebrae/

and I think that is it. Let me know if there is anything missing and I will see what I can find. By the way, expect great image quality as these skins/textures/models are very good quality (or atleast better then the other models and low rez skins/textures).

yeah, I thought it was worth it but then again it all depends on your tastes. I don't remember if I got everything or not.
