Hi guys,

I'm a newbie with this jDoom thing. I've just downloaded it and run it for the first time and it looks seriously cool! I have one problem though. Naturally, the first thing I wanted to do was get my friend to download it and play Final Doom over the Internet. Like a good little user, I checked out the documentation (http://www.doomsdayhq.com/doc_network.php):

The graphical user interface provided by Doomsday offers a simple way to host and join multiplayer games. It can usually be accessed via the "Multiplayer" menu.

Hmmmm... I think I'm using the GUI (kicks.exe) but I don't see a "Multiplayer" menu anywhere. What am I doing wrong? Am I running the wrong .exe?

FYI, s/w is WinXP Home with "Final Doom for Windows 95".

Thanks,

G

Why don't you try posting this in the Jdoom Tech Support Forum (http://forums.newdoom.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=80)?

Hi,

Thanks. Yes, I did. In fact, I started in there and then got lost and ended up in this one by accident after I registered! Sorry. I got my answer in the end.

For the reference of anyone as new to this Internet Doom/jDoom thing as me, the answer was launch Doom as normal, go to Multiplayer and click either "Join game" or "Host game" and then you get taken to a separate jDoom network setup page that has everything you need. I assumed networking was part of the initial GUI, as it had been in previous DOS programs I had years ago, but it wasn't...

:)

Thanks,

G
