Wad

Most of the servers i find have a different wad than mine. They will have doom.wad(randomletters_ and mine is like doom.was(different random letters). Do i need an update or something? ive never updated my doom 1,2 or plutonia experiment.

What do you mean random letters? The file should be called doom.wad, with nothing else there, otherwise it will not work.

The correct file size is 12,118 KB if you have The Ultimate Doom, if you have regular Doom, I havn't got that. You may have a different version of the wad file than the servers, to find out what version you have, fire up the old dos executable, and it will display in a bar at the top, I think that Doom is grey, and Doom 2 is red.

There are a ton of other threads about Doom wad file versions on here, but the final wad file version for all the Dooms is v1.9
