I'm not sure if this is supposed to be here and I apoligize if it isn't.*confused* :(

I was just wondering how Dark Nexus was coming along? I saw some of the screenshots and they look great but the Doom Depot site hasn't been updated since December 15, 2003. I don't know if it's still being worked on or the project has been cancelled.*confused*

Anybody have any info on this?*confused*

EDIT:I should have checked the Doom 64 thread. Sorry.:(

The Jdoom version will postdate the Legacy version, which is in progress. The jdoom version is easiest to do because thanks to the doom64 tc team, the resources are all there (and new things can be easily added), so it should follow quickly after the Legacy version ;).

Yeah, Legacy is taking longer, there was a completely new resource wad added to it, not to mention the color palette and everything else. Plus there's new sprites to be made and new monsters for them to go with. When I was in charge of it, I never intended for it to drag on this long. Going on this summer it'll have been a little more than a year since it was first conceived and started upon. I hope that it won't take another year.

...I really dont know what to say, without sounding very rude.

If you want the project back Melfice, then fine. I dont know if I can do this in a year. If you want the project back, then take it. All the stuff I've done so far can be applied to my own thing if need be.

I just dont understand how you can criticize when ive only had it for 3 months so far. I know for you the legacy version wasnt a priority, but you opted out of your own project, but still seem to want to control the direction of things.
You said way back when that many people were interested in this project, which is why you wanted it to be completed, even if not by you.
I cant make something with such a time limit (im a slow mapper) and keep the quality within a reasonable level. I dont want to release anything with my name on this that is utter garbage. So at this point im faced with a decision:
Continue what ive done so far into my own project OR continue DN as it is, complete it in a year.

When I started DN I started hanging around the #legacy irc channel, and made some new friends, and thus found mappers for Dark Nexus. These are people that I cant rush either, that i'd be a fool to try and manipulate. There is so much that needs to be done for the legacy version, but the point is im having a good time doing it, and its not a chore. Ive enlisted scripting/engine help from at least a couple people (you know who you are), and things have been really looking up. But this is insane. How can I be expected to conform to your original vision (if thats what it is) Melfice, while juggling what I want in the project myself. Its not ...not... efficient (in leiu of better word) nor ...fair. Its like im the guy whos running things, but still getting instructions from you (sitting in the sidelines, as it were) as to what needs to be where, how long it should take, how much should be in each level etc.

Now dont get me wrong man, your a good guy, but I cant operate like this. I must say that Im toying with the idea backing out of DN then. I will start a project from my (and especially others) current work, where I have control over story, enemies, etc. I want to make something and call it my own (with credit where due). I cant do this at all in this situation. Im sorry, but this is the way it has to be.

Also, this post is just an expression of a mixture of stress, frustration, and more. I dont mean it to be hurtful/condecending/whatever, Im improvising here, so nothings in order.
