Absolution Gameplay help (not sure where to ask this)

I good while ago, I was playing Doom 2 on Doomsday. A manual described a secret area that I had to run over to. I found that I was just barely out of reach of it no matter what I did. I spent a good hour on it before giving up.

Now I'm playing Absolution, and I have reached what I believe to be a required obsticle. I am having the same problem of the platform just being pixels out of my reach. Here is the screenshot of the area I'm stuck in:

I have been at this for about two days now. The floor in the middle rises and I'm apparently supposed to leap off into one of the passageways. I've tried running head on as a manual said to do. I've tried strafing sideways to get onto it, I've tried strafing and dashing at the same time, I've tried going in a curved path towards it, and I've tried dashing backwards onto it. All of these methods land me with my nose touching the wall I'm supposed to get over.

Is there a techique for landing on something farther away that I don't know about?

I remember that bit. I'm sure backing up on the platform as much as you can, waiting for the platform to rise as high as is possible and then straferunning off should do it.
