Oops. I misread the news and thought Legacy 1.41 supported Hexen files. Silly me.

I'm not going to try a pre-alpha, I can kill my PC in other ways, but I'll be very keen to see it when it's done.

In the meantime are there other doom engines that will run Hexen yet?

There's the latest ZDoom beta (not PC-wrecking) that you can get from this directory (look for the .cab file with the highest number): http://www.zdoom.org/files/lars

There's also Doomsday. It's what I use for HeXen becasue IMO ZDOOM just looks ugly, but once it's looking as good as ZDooMGL with all the features in then I'll use it more often.

Stupidly I now realise I have Hexen 2 and not Hexen the First, so it has all been pointless. Bah!
