I hope this question hasn’t been asked before but here goes:
Can the doom 64 tc in it’s “new” standalone sate still be played multi play? If so how?
All so I really liked the doom logo fly by, was there any reason why the demos where removed or was it a compatibility problem?

Yes, there are some special events that causes demos to go out of sync. So demos are no longer used.

There was going to be multiplayer, but along mid-way though the development of doom64.dll I broke the netcode (don't ask me how, because I don't know. This was when the TC relied on Doomsday.exe so there was numberous updates to keep the TC working properly with the latest doomsday version. But along the way, the netcode got borked). So multiplayer is no longer functional. Multiplayer was going to be removed anyways due to specials that will only work for single player (special events like the terraformer etc)

Terraformer? I am confused...
But I'm confused almost all the time. Really, what is a Terraformer?

Terraformer AKA map02 of doom64. The 'terraformer' in the level is a huge crusher that slams into the ground at extreme speed, slowly rising, and repeating a few times. When it rises the last time, the area that it crushed forms a path to the next part of the level. This sort of thing would break multiplay completely.

Not in the original cart, the whole game fit into 8 megs. Considering that doom64 was a First-Gen N64 game (n64 release: 1996, Doom64: 1997), they probably hadnt capitalized on the compression techniques that were available late in the N64's life.

That said however, the game had some remarkable things, one of which is not inheriting the weird N64 fogging effect which plagued most n64 games until the very end, and providing a high-res looking game.

Disragard all that If you were specifically referring to the Doom64 TC. There dont seem to be any DM-only levels in the WAD file, and even if there were, unless you were playing on a LAN, there is no hope of getting a good ping.

there is'nt? hmmm now your going to make me go and look just to see if I hallucinating or not. I'm shore in some of the older doom64 tc there where maps made for DM.... now where did I put them older beta copys?

btw what was the "weird N64 fogging" problem?

To me, its where things in the distance are blurred oddly, kind of like that mip mapping effect. It looks horrible because the resolution of the N64/tv is so low.

Man, I wanted to play Doom 64 COOP.

Are there any old versions still laying around that still use the original doomsday.exe file?

I remember having it a long time ago, and even though it's a rougher version I'd still enjoy it. And that DOOM intro was cool as hell I remember :(
