Save them the same as for saving a picture from a site(right click and save as)

Indeed those are some great patches. I've been using them for quite a while now.

I think I read in a thread somewhere that Slide said he was going to wait until some more HeXen patches had been done to make a JHeXen UI.

Hmm, that font's wrong it seems, i think it gives hexen a wierd light feel..

If you're gonna work on the statusbar repaint the gargoyles! I don't want to see them missing or replaced by angels, that scares me :P

Anywho, you could just find a hi-res shot of the hexen log instead of just plain using a light/height filter on it.

but how do I USE these files? I put them in the textures directory, in a directory called Patches/jHexen... How do I make the Engine recognize these?

I want to have just good fontpack , i have "converted" chilvence for jdoom they are resized in gothic style :-) , just kiding it´s ugly and they are all white, but i don´t have blured fonts with them...

Incidentally, has anyone got a true type font that looks like the Quake 2 hud letters, could you also send it to me somehow ;) ?

Vermil, seems that putting that font pack in the Auto directory makes jHexen crash out with 'Compression is not supported'. I put the font .png's in the Patches directory where they should go, and... THEY WORK! Awesome looking! The UI pack is slowwwwly coming togetha babeh! ;) oh and where can I find a WAD Explorer? If I feel things are moving too slowly I may just have to bust out my Photoshoppery skillz (no matter how weak they are) and do it myself! (and don't worry, I will share :) )

Use XWE (http://www.doomworld.com/xwe) or wintex, sadly I don't have a link for that. unfortunately none of them work for me so I don't know about you.

I can do a LOT better than what is in that pack, but only if I have a good font to use as a base. It will be something like this, but with more of a bevel to be like the heretic fonts: http://www.stateoftheworld.eclipse.co.uk/doom/stuffage/quakefontsmall.png

Easycheese, I'll show you my base image, you'll see how easy it is. You could do stuff like this all day, its just knowing the quickest technique ;)

Here take a look, see how the different layers stack up. The only notable effect is the erosion, for that I saved the mask shape to a different file, ran some filters on it and shrank the edges, and then loaded it back in as a mask to clip the top layers to it. The base texture is just a wall outside where I used to live with some colour and depth tweaks.

Please, dont brush yourself off on my account, I'm just as much in learning as anyone ;)

if that's the problem with the heretic font pack, it's greyscaled images you so can have doomsday blend it to the color you want via a ded file

Heretic and HeXen have the same menu font, though it is coloured green in Heretic and red in HeXen. So if the JHUI's hi-res font is used, it would need to be coloured red for use in HeXen if you want to match the original font completely.

I saw that the zip posted in this tread contained, three sets of the same fonts in different colors, you'll only need fonta* (as long as this is the white/grey one) and write a ded file telling doomsday that fontb*, and fontay* have to be blended to the proper color, that will also cut down on the filesize, see the jdui pack on slides site or the old highreshud pack off my site for ded examples how to do patch replacement using fonts

I've been using the jheretic fonts in jhexen for a while now - doomsday doesn't recolour them but if someone could write a simple ded to do the job that would be great.

Yep - the existing ones don't look that good - just better than low-res. New fonts with that chilvence touch would be good. Btw had you thought of a Strife hi-res pack now that Kaiser has the game working?

Oops, sorry DX. Yeah I did get them, but to be honest they werent exactly what I was looking for - the closest one was lblack.ttf, but thats more like decorative handwriting rather than the plain, simply styled Heretic letters. I've been looking for a good font myself to do it with, so I will get round to it eventually. Even if it means vectoring out some of the letters myself.

About wad explorer use wintex (look at doom - doom legacy related webpages)
It needs vbrun300.dll simply type it to the google and download some.
Then you have to put that dll to windows/system/
