View Full Version : Latest Update Is Near

I just looked through the last couple topics and figured out roughly who is doing what... I got the news typed up in Dreamweaver and all I got to do is fix the Levels page and get a few screenshots up. Where can I get the maps that are newly completed? I have Exl's and Pumpkinsmasher's zips that they put up just recently and I can make my own screenshots. I might get to finish this tonight but I need to go search for news for the three sites and work on that before the day is done. If anybody has any news to add to this stuff:

Paul Corfiatis joined the team to work on map06 and his map is finished.
iori named his map The Ignorant which he says is about 30% done.
Exl finished Xenturion (map08)
DoomedAce is working on map29 which he is calling Crack of Doom.
Pumpkinsmasher is working on the last details of Map21: 13th Cross.
Frades is 99% finished of Shotfun (map04 )

[edit] These screens are of Paul's map right? Also what is he calling it?

[edit edit] UPDATE IS DONE! If there is anything I need to add / change please let me know. I'll news this on the main page in a few. :D

I have them here someplace... Ummm if the ones on the site have nothing to do with your map then we can change them otherwise I don't think it's needed. As long as we have 3 shots of everybodys map then thats all we really need.

Well if there are 16, then we are halfway done, thats pretty good. There are some people on the levels page that I've never heard of, I was just wondering if yall have heard from them to make sure they are doing their maps.

[edit] Ok I went ahead and recounted them on the Levels page and we do have 17 if you count the one Doom_Goat is still tweaking.

Well the update loos good DD. I'm glad that we are halfway done(well close enough). I hope this project gets finished soon. You need to start ragging people to finish their maps and give us some updates.

I think we shouldn't keep a list, and just take whoever can get a map in the quickest. Then we can get this finished and start NDCP2.

Its still kinda buggy, so I wont release it here until its polished.

Oh, and Doom_Dude, there was an error in your news. I had said that my map was 30% from completion, not 30% into it. But now its 99% done, so we're all happy :)

Howdy all you Doom punks! The Ace is back *smirk*. Well... For the moment at least...

Unfortunately, progress on the map since the last update is 0.0%. Haven't touched neither Doom, nor my PC, nor ANY PC in over two months. Just been busy with other things that needed... to be taken care of, heh-heh.. :p

I'll try to resume work on my map (Yes, I said TRY. I need to pick up mapping all over again). I don't think I'll be on the forums all that much, but at least you know I'm still in the project and - trying to be - working on my map.

Hey PumpkinSmasher, the last time I played your map there was some unalignments on crates.... hope you fixed that. Send me the map and I'll check it out. I'm in that kinda Doom mood. ;)

Okay PumpkinSmasher I played your map. I did a run-through without monsters and I'll do the monster thing tomorrow. Anyhow there's a few odds and ends you can do to the texturing to make it look better.

1) Some of the floor textures under the doors or adjacent to don't match the surrounding flats. I think it would look better if they matched.

2) The first secret door with the Brownhug texture on it has the front texture unpegged. When the door goes up the texture doesn't move with the door which looks weird. Take the unpeg off and offset it by 72 to align it with the surrounding walls.

3) First big green techdoor. The front is unaligned. Methinks Doom Builder moved it when you were using the auto-align textures feature. :p

4) At the same big green door. There are 2 narrow walls in the doorway facing each other that need aligning. Set the lower unpeg on these to On. Same with the walls in the door next to the bigdoor. Lower unpeg them for quick aligning.

5) There's two little alcoves near the yellow key that have the yellow light textures in them. Above each of these you should unpeg above. Same goes for the two raised parts that are on either side of the room that you can drop down onto from where you get the yellow key. The back walls can be aligned by unpegging above.

6) The tall brown crate just below the yellow key area you can look down upon and the top is unaligned.

6a) Sides of doorway at the bluekey door...unpeg below (same deal as #4)

7) Past the yellow key door, hang a left and the end wall between the candlabras looks bad. The left side has an offset of 16. Change it to 0.

8) The next brown door has some monitor texture above it and methinks some other texture should go there like maybe compspan.

9) The area with the green striped techwalls. When you hit the switch the walls raise but the walls facing the player have the upper unpegged setting set to on. The textures don't scroll when the walls raise. Take the setting off them as it's uneeded.

10) The next area is a dark comp-maze and the entry has a ceiling height of 112 so the walls there look like they have parts stuck in the floor. Use the compspan texture on those walls. Compspan works great on any wall in a comp room that is a off-size. There are some other little walls here and there that could use compspan. I think you'll find that breaking up the walls between compspan and the other comp textures will look better.

Okay now for the good news. ;) That area near the end of the map that contains the brown rusty wall textures with the big rivets, red wall lights and circles in the ceiling looks really COOL! Thats a really nice looking room methinks. I also like your gouping of crates near the entry and the room with the Plasm Gun looks good too with the crusher and the flashing lights. The room with the yellow key has good design. Nice map PumpkinSmasher and with a few xtra tweaks it'll be even better. :D

Still haven't finished my new Legacy So map so I haven't been able to work on JB and modify it. I'm incapable of working on 2 maps at once. It's why JB isn't so good.

Okay I've read over your list Doom_Dude and tried to fix everything as best as I could.Okay heres the progress:

1)I fixed all the flats under and above doors and the surrounding.
2)I unchecked the unpegged flag for the brown secret door.
3)Hmmm...this was a strange problem. The only way i found to fix it was to actually move the door over 4 units.
4)Fixed those unalignments.
5)Fixed those unalignments as well.
6)Got rid of that crate.
6a)Unpegged that.
7)changed that alignment
8)Consider it COMPSPAN'd
9)The Unpegged Flag has been unchecked.
10)Did some COMPSPANism here. I'll look for some other places that may use that.

And thanks for telling me about the areas you liked. If oyu have any other ideas or suggestions please let me know. Other than that I'm jsut about finished.

Sounds good Pumpkinsmasher. I just remembered. You have a switch in the dark comp-maze area and when you hit the switch a door in the wall near the switch opens. The doortracks could use unpegging as I noticed they move with the door. Beyond the door is a teleport that takes you to a damaging sector thats very dark. By the way is there anything in that room or is it just a trap?

its just a trap, you supposed to go to the other telporter back to the main room. I'll fix that real quick like. I'm also gonna make it so that if you run around enough you can get out of the trap.

hehe, itll get a lot of people. I'm do a bit with weapon and ammo placement, and then send it up. It seems a little low, but if you find all the secrets you should be fine.
