Ok, it's ok to ask these things because we all once where n00bs;)

OK those are sourceports and each of them are known for they're own specific speciality:D

Legacy is known because of realy 3d floors
jDoom is known because of it's eyecandy for doom:D

And all of them have expansion wads and stuff to make it better:)
jDoom for instance has 3d mdoel capabilty (that look darn good), soon real-time rendered shadows and stuff like that
Legacy has 3d floors which makes mapping for doom more attractive:D

site's:
www.doomsdayhq.com
http://legacy.newdoom.com
www.zdoom.org

If you have a nice graphics card and processor, get JDoom. If you prefer nice levels, ZDoom has tons of them. Nimrod for Legacy is a great Doom Conversion as well.

A "source port" is, in the meaning of Doom, an enhanced version of the original Doom engine. And when I say enhanced I mean really enhanced. They only require the doom IWAD (data) file to run. They also have the ability to run Doom 1, The Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 and any of the final Dooms. Some even have the ability to run Heretic or Hexen.

Sourceports are fantastic. If you want to play online, use ZDaemon. It uses the ZDoom engine I believe :D

ZDoom 1.23 to be precise. Skulltag on the other hand uses ZDoom 2.0.43 or 47i or something.

Interesting. Do you think they'll update ZDaemon with a higher ZDoom soon?

From what I've heard\read, no. They're keeping it really old-skool.
