Hey guys, I'm new to this... I just heard about it from my friend. Him and I were both wondering where we can still download teh WAD files to Doom and the other games that can be played in Doom Legacy. I think they are heretic and Hexen.... i'm not sure as to I am new.. any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks.

You can't download the WAD files. Doom is still being sold, and therefor it is illegal to download the game. The smae applies for Doom II/Heretic/Hexen/Strife.

Like PumpkinSmasher said, you can't download the full versions of Doom, Doom 2, heretic, etc. You can either buy them at IDsoftware store (http://www.idsoftware.com/store/) or download these demos.
Doom demo (http://download.com.com/3000-7453-10246293.html)
Heretic demo (ftp://phoebus@server1.thefourwinds.net/raven-games/classics/heretic.zip)
Hexen Demo (ftp://phoebus@server1.thefourwinds.net/raven-games/classics/hexendemo.zip)
I hope this solves your problem.

At the moment, prealpha Legacy can play Doom, Hexen, and Heretic. The other versions only play Doom or Heretic(dunno if it does Heretic or not, someone else could help you for that) As for me, I'd tell you to buy it, but if you download it and DON'T tell nobody, then I don't care.

Which version of Legacy are you running? If its 1.40 or 1.41, it won't run, watch for future releases of Legacy for Hexen support is all I can tell you.

FYI Zdoom 2.0.61 runs Doom, Heretic and Hexen too:
Download 61.cab and extract it somewhere (www.zdoom.org/files/lars)
Edit: Not to mention Doomsday (http://www.doomsdayhq.com)

Use Zdoom (www.zdoom.org). It beats the crap out of Legacy.
EDIT: Darnit. I got beaten.

I'd go with Doomsday there buddy. It look real nice, with a lot of customizability.

Just try all the source-ports. Each has their good and bad qualities. So try them all and see which one you like. You can always use mulitple source-ports if you like.

I really like all the source ports, but I kinda play with ZDoom most of the time.

I downloaded everyone I could find, to evaluate them, I like Doomsday, ZDoom, then Legacy, although I still play many of the others... from time to time.

I go with Legacy, but I use Zdoom a lot because of all the content that is released for it. For Hexen, I use the Korax mod version of Jdoom. It makes standard Hexen seem unbearably dull in cmparison.

really, IMO, the ports depend on your PC
I have 2, one at my moms, one at my dads
at my moms, my pc has a crappy GeforceMX 440 AGP card (i am gonna replace it soon) and Doomsday and Legacy both are not smooth at all on it, so i just use Zdoom
at my dads, on the other hand, i got a pretty awesome ATI Radeon 9600-XT AGP8x 128mb card on his comp and you can barely tell the performance differnece on them and zdoom
So, if you have a lowend PC, stick with ZDOOM, with a high-end one, use either one you like best
thats what i do

I always use jDoom for single player. As for multiplayer, I find ZDoom/Daemon and Legacy to be the best. (For some reason, I can't get jDoom multiplayer working).

Acid-Reflux, Shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com), install the app and search for Doom. Simple!
