for a couple of days I've been experiencing some minor to major flickers on my screen, this began after my computer has shutted down by itself for no reason at all. Then I've began noticing these random flickers, at first I thought it was my power supply, but after I tested the power supply, it came out okay. So now I am begining to think its my moniter, or worse, maybe my 5 month old radeon 9800

anyone have a solution or any thoughts?

Test with another monitor if you have one. Sounds like the power supply though, I know it tested good, But it could still be bad. It is typical for comp to shut down on it's own because of that. I had one that did the same thing. Could be a virus or hacker as well.

I've already replaced my old 300w supply with a 460w, and the glitch/flickering still persists.

When I get time, I am going to use my other moniter and see if it still occurs.

If thats the case then yes check it out on the other monitor. If it still flickers then it is more than likely the Video Card. With it only being 5 months old it should still be under warranty. Did you check the Refresh rate?

yeah, I checked all refresh rates and resolution and still get the same thing...although for some odd reason, I can't go over 1024x768 in my resolution, which I was positive I was able to go above that before....

Yea you should get higher Res than that, Unless your monitor can't handle higher resolutions, I doubt thats the case though... by what your saying it's sounding more like the video card. :(

After troubleshooting the situation, it turned out it was my monitor! The video plug was missing two pins and three more were about to fall out as well!

heh..good thing I got my spares...*bliss*

I was gonna suggest monitor and then I read the rest of the thread. :p Glad you got it figured out. I had a monitor go poof as well quite awhile ago tho it wasn't doing any flickering....

All that is needed now is to fix my flickering mouse pointer in c and c generals ! lol at least it is the ONLY game that has a problem..

at first I thought it was the cooling in your case but after reading aobut the resolution I thought you should build a snowman with that moniter, its crap now. Glad you got the situation fixed.
