I've made up some floor/ceiling textures which Ninja is testing out but I've also made them available on my site. I'll try and make some more when I get time and try some wall textures.
I lost the anoymiser I had to use when posting pics so copying and pasting the link address will have to do I'm afraid.
Comments please would be helpful. :)

The flrshy thing doesn't convert to doom palette very well, especially the brighter parts of that texture.

Same thing about that desert flat. It's better than flesh, but still leaves too much of the same colour around.

i tiled them (2x2) in doom palette.. zoom in to see the bad colours.

Yeah I tried asking Ninja what colours are used in Doom and he hadn't got round to testing them for me because of Thief and he's going to let me install Doom on my computer so I'll have a better idea myself and at least be able to make a custom set of colours for making stuff like this. Would anybody be able to show what colours are available?

The doom palette is also included inside those BMP files i posted earlyer, since bmp format includes the palette also.
You just have to open it with an editor wich shows you the 256-colour palette used.

Right thanks. I didn't think I'd really get into editing in anyway but I guess I have now at least by making textures I leave the map building to Ninja since he has more time and understands it all! At least now I hope they will be much better now.

I'm a bit annoyed as right now I use Painter Classic which won't give me the option to only use 256 colours and while MGI Photosuite does I don't like how it has less tools and won't support the tablet so that the amount of pressure I use affects the brush troke so I'm trying to get Wally but of all the links I tried only one works for me and I have to wait too long to be able to download it. I will try later so hopefully I will come up with Doom compatible textures. At least these have been a practise and I know I can make something decent.

Those look quite good, She-wolf! :D
I'm very good in making textures myself, so I usually crack other wads open and "borrow" textures of other authors (that is, as long as the .TXT files included in the .ZIP don't forbid me doing that) or I'll try searching some GIFs on the net and convert them to textures.

Bad thing about wally is that it still saves in 8/16 bit coulur.
The palette is only good enough for a colour picker there. For example when you make a green grass texture in it, using the colours in doom palette, it's all ok, but as soon as you add blend or soften or any other effect on the texture, it doesn't care about the palette, so eventually the textures would still have to be converted to 256-colour.

Wally's definitely a good one to have.

I use Wally a lot to make bricks or add scratches and do some tiling and have never had a problem with it. I don't even bother with the Doom palette until I'm done making my texture. I never use Wally after applying the palette. If the texture is screwed by applying the Doom palette I undo the changes and start messing with the color adjustments or with the brightness and contrast then retry applying the palette. Most of the time however I find my textures come out fine but I suppose after making almost 1000 textures I'm more in tune with what will and will not fuck up once the Doom palette is applied. :p
By the way, She Wolf your dirt looks pretty good and the other one I can't see. Keep practising. :D Keep in mind that you can take that dirt flat and turn it into a tiled floor thus making two textures from the one. I do that a lot. Or I'll take a piece of a wall I made and make a flat out of it.
