Hey Sparky and everybody else for that matter. I want to update the NDCP site but since the 'incident' with that dipshit who deleted the forums I've totally lost track of what the hell is going on. So Sparky can you gather the info of what needs to be updated and post it here. I know iori has some screens and so does Ninja but any other info will help a lot. Its about time we all got back on track. Unfortunately I lost my focus on all Doom stuff due to the incident and I was confused beforehand. :p Anybody else who can add info please post it here and I will update Sunday to be sure. Oh and who do I need to change on the team list and on who is doing what map. I hope you kept that txt file updated Sparky.

Hmmm So melfive dropped his slot, did he. Funny guy. My maps coming along very well, doing some sweet things with the doom engine :p, though nothing that hasnt been seen before as far as effects (Being it the doom engine and the year 2004 and all). Yeah. I suggest not using those screens i posted D_D, because the maps evolved a bit from then, but its your call

Yeah hes like a yo-yo where this project is concerned.. :p Ooooh and about screenshots.... I really don't think they have to be right up to date. As long as people looking at them can get an idea of what they're going to play then the screens have done thier job methinks. ;)

I think he was. Maybe we should drop him a line and remind him. I would contribute my newest project to Map 28 but:
1. It's WAY too big
2. It would take too much work to convert it to Vanilla and would seriously lack detail
3. It's uses some custom textures

Besides, I think the reviews will be good.;)

Hmm... Ok. What were the rules again? It's supposed to be a vanilla doom wad right? Does that also mean I can't use some custom textures?

I have a hellish-style map that I've been working on for another project, called "Demonic Rift". But since that project's now pretty much dead, I had no idea what to do with it. So I thought maybe I could contribute it to the NDCP. Problem is, it uses many custom textures and flats...

Think I'll just have to do a new map from scratch then. Map28, was it?

Using your own textures and flats is allowed, so don't worry. You can't however use custom animated textures, replace sounds\music\sprites or use any special linedef types that vanilla Doom doesn't support (like Boom triggers).

Lol... Those are a few of the brightest areas in the map. Wait till you see the caves that run as a labyrinth around the central temple *dark*

Oh yeah... Maybe you noticed the temple's a bit overscaled. But that's just to provide enough space for the Cyberdemons that inhabit the temple. *evilol*

I ended up painting a ceiling when I was planning on doin the update. Ummmmm should start that update now and even if I don't get it done tonight it'll be a start at least..

I'm not sure if this is the newest version, i just copied it out of the sticky NDCP thread


RULES:

Maps Must Be For Plain Doom2 (no port)
Maps Must Be As Error Free As Possible
You May use Boom Or Zdoom to Get Rid Of Doom Limits Like Visplanes ( or any other port )
No New Sprites, Music, Sounds, Just Stick With Stuff From Doom2.wad.
There Is No Size Limit But Don't Make A Tiny Tiny Or Mega Huge Map
Difficulty Is In-between Easy-Hard
And You May Use Any Style/Theme
There Are No Timelimits, But Dont Take Longer Then Everyone Else
You May Use New Textures And Flats, Just As long As They Don't Overwrite Old Doom2 Textures
Maps Must Support All Skill Levels In Some Way
Maps Must Have A Miniumum Of 2 Secrets
Mappers Of Map15 And Map31: Map15 Must Exit To Map31 And Map31 Must Exit To Map32 (use secret exit switches in map15 and map31 instead of normal exit switches)

Mappers Must Check There Map When Completed, That It Follows All The Rules

Okay lets get this stuff straight.

Melfice was doing maps 08, 21 and 29

Paul Corfiatis is doing map06.

Pumpkinsmasher is doing map21.

DoomedAce thought he was doing map28 but Stphrz did a map28 already and so DoomedAce can have the map29 slot.

But who is doing map08???? If nobody is doing map08 then I have somebody I want to ask. ;)

map 21 and 29 were takin by someone. im pretty sure
and someone was also doign map08 but we gave up looking for that person so we gave it to melfice
ao then doomedace has map08 if we find the 2 peeps that are doing map 21 and 29

its my fualt not keeping my lists up to date with this stuff
if we cant fix this soon i think were gunna have to "re-shuffle" the map list and people can "re-declare" there map slots
and anyone who doesnt will be givin a time period and if that person doesnt respawned we can just give it away to someone else
i dont want to have to wait forever for these people to wake up.

if the last mapper of map06 doesnt surfice then thats there loss. this project needs to move on
paul has map06 for now untill we can find who it was doing it
doomedace, you going to have to wait to get your map number untill we figurethis stuff out
im pretty sure Rex is doing map 21 or 29
whos doing map08 or who was?

its not just my fault, i shouldnt just be responsible for remebering all these things
the mappers should too. keep your own lists and stuff to help the rest of us
the project will go alot faster when we dont have to think about these kinda of things

im going to update my list when we do an update
im just mad that no one knows up these things

If map08 isn't taken then DoomedAce should have it. If somebody else has map08 then DoomedAce can have my 2nd slot. Damn those hackers....all that info was in here before. :/

i think its importent that if someone has worked on map06 already then they should have it
the only reason that we gave paul map06 was cus we couldnt find the originial mapper

map08 is another unknown map
someone is or was doing it before but we just cant figure out who. we can give doomedace map08 for now

i still want to find these mappers, its just fair to them
though if they dont show up then we will give there slots away

i think we have all the info for now

Im pretty sure the map06 slot was 'clear' so to speak when you asked Paul so I wouldn't worry about that one. I do wonder about map08 but like Pumpkinsmasher said that was a Melfice map. Melfice said quite clearly that he wasn't going to help us and he already gave us the olde 'Im not gonna help with the NDCP' before and I talked to him in a PM and he eventually said hed do the one map and now..... honestly I give up asking him to do anything.

So map08 is probably free. We can wait and see what happens but DoomedAce deserves a spot with all the hard work he's put into a map and id give him the map08 slot right now if I was sure nobody else took it after Melfice gave it up. We should've had our shit together with the map28 slot as all we had to do was look on the NDCP site to clearly see that map slot was Stphrz's, who's map is finished. If I have to I can give DoomedAce my map07 slot. I'm finding it hard to get to work on as I have so much other stuff to do.

Don't get peeved Sparky. We both should've kept a list or something but didn't. Also sucks that 80% of the mappers on this thing don't post here and 2 of them never answer emails.... Lut and Face.Uk which I find annoying as it would be nice to know what they're doing if anything at all.

[edit] I emailed ReX to see if he's doing map29. We'll eventually get this figured out.

I'm not worried about my map, really. I can give the slot to DoomedAce. Like I said, I find it hard to get the time to work on it and I'll be able to do more tweaks on map01 afterwards.

What's your definition of a "mega huge map"? Is 2500 linedefs big, considering that's just around 40% of the map?

Ah well. Some come and go, Some just stay around for the show and others just do nothing.
On mapping, my new maps (non-NDCP) seems to have run out of steam for now. I just built a crapload of big 3D bridges and pits and have a room all drawn up but have no idea when I'm going to get back to work. I've got exams starting next week for 2 weeks so I'll be busy. Life sucks right now.*ugh*

He still checks upon his friends, I know this for a fact. But I can tell you on his behalf that he has all too many projects going at once, between his personal life (now having a boyfriend) and now editing for Quake 3 Arena full time, it was the best idea. He didn't want to give you any more than his best, but being as busy and tied up as he was that wouldn't have happened, and he wouldn't have wanted that. Not being part of NewDoom is only a small part of why he quit.

Dark Nexus will take me a while im sure...considering that I dont know the first thing about Jdoom editing, and therefor have to appoint someone to handle that aspect, while I head up the legacy development. I might start a thead on legacy/jdoom to see if people are interested - but im looking for dedicated people help, preferably people who dont have another project to work on at the same time. (most of the extremely talented mappers I know are all tied up in their own projects, not surprisingly)

I'm sure Iori will do a fine job :) My net's screwed up at my house at the moment so I'm at school :( Besides that, Phoebus still has my ip banned, but yet my account is banned. I have no idea wtf is going on but its wierd.
