Hey Peeps
Some May Be Wondering Where I Have Been The Last 2 Weeks
Iv Had Major Computer Trouble
Im Just Now Getting Things Back Together
I Also Managed To Save All My Files (I Hope)
So Heres What Happend If Anyone Is Interested:
2 Weeks Ago Wednesday, I Get My New Modem From My ISP I Changed Too. So Im Trying To Get It Working So After Spending 2 Hours Looking And The Instructions I Cant Get It Working So I Call The ISP And He Says My Hub Or Hub Cables Or Not Compatible (I Have A Hub) So I Connect To The Computer Directly
And It Still Doesnt Work. So I Spend Like 7 Hours Calling About 30 Times To Fix This
And It Turns Out I Have Files Missing (Im Using WinXp Pro) So I Try To Install WinXp Over My Current Install And The Setup Works Fine. So I Go And See If It Worked And It Frezzes Before It Starts So I Go Into WinME (I Have A Dual OF WinME And WinXp Pro)
So I Get The Internet Working Fine Even With My Hub And Cables http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/tongue.gif But Iv Also Been Fighting Off A Worm Infercting My Whole System. Now I Get Under Control, So I Thought
So I Wake Up The Next Morning And Turn On My Comp To Find That The Worm Has My WinME By The Balls So Im Totaly Freaking Cus I Dont Have Any Kind Of Backup, So I Call My Friend That Has Another Hard Drive Handy And I Use Norten Ghost To Put My Files On The Other Hard Drive I Then Format My System And Try To Partition It, After 2 Hours It Wont Partition So I Take It To A Repair Place And They Tell Me Its Dead http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm23.gif So Now Im Really Freaking Out, I Call Up Maxtor And They Say That Theres No Warrenty Cus They Sold It To HP To Put Into My System. So I Know The My HP Has One Year Warrenty, But Its Past 1 Year So I Take The Hard Out And It Says In Tiny Writing That The Warrenty Is Not Up Till Jan04 So I Talk The Repair People Again And They Say Its All BS That My Warrent Up And Its Says That Its Not Up Till Jan04. So They Say To Goto Where I Got The Comp And They Can Probably Replace It So I GO To Where I Got My Comp And They Gave Me A WD 80MB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache For Free (I Had A Maxtor 80GB 5200 RPM 2MB Cache) So Im Happy About That. So I Get It Home And Partition It And Install Win98SE On The First Partition (Im Gunna Do A Dual Of Win98SE And WinXP Pro) Then Im Fixing Everything Up And Im About To Hook Up The Other Hard To Put My Stuff On My Seconde Partition.
Sounds Like Its All Over With A Happy Ending Eh?? No Way... My Monitor Blows, And Not The First Time Either
It Only Can Handle 60hz Refresh (Yes Thats Crap) Default Of 75Hz When I Installed Win98Se So When Im Smelling Burning Smells From My Monitor I Restart And To No Picture So I Know Its Time To Get Anbother Monitor Since This Has Happend Before (I Had To Get It Replaced With The Same One Cus OfThe Same Prob, Thank God Its Still Under Warrenty)
So I Take It Back To Where I Got, But Instead Of Replacing It, Giving Me My Money Back Or Giving Something Diff, They Gotta Send It To The Company To Get Fixed To Gotta Wait About A Week To See Whas Gunna Happen To That. So Im Stuck Using My Old 15" http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/frown.gif
