Unreal Tournament 2004 was shown last month at E3, but no official media of the game has been released until today. These are the first three screenshots of Epic's next game, which will include all of the content from Unreal Tournament 2003 as well as new game modes, huge new maps, and controllable air, land, and space vehicles. One of the screenshots provides a look at the space flyer in the assault mode, while the other two show scenes from the onslaught mode, which will take place in giant outdoor environments. Several vehicles can be seen in the outdoor shots: a flyer, a hovertank, and a jeep.

And they're also having a $1,000,000 contest to see who can create the best mod level.

Nice, sounds like Halo has finally inspired someone to include some fucking vehicles! So when do we get Unreal 3 with Vehicles?!?!

I heard they might stop with the Unreal franchise and move on to something else. I heard rumors of a first-person vehicular combat game. And I don't think it has anything to do with Twisted Metal.

I used to really like the vehicles in Tribes2. There was a really good, high standard of play in that community too.

It was just so fun bundling you and a teammate into a bomber jet, with you flying around and try to dodge enemy fire, and them manning the bomb bay and decimating things on the ground.

Eh, 2003 has vehicle support (though only the Bulldog is in there) Championship has vehicles. Ha, Future Shock (remember that game?) had driveable vehicles like 6 years ago. LOL, btw, I hate Halo. I think it's the most overrated game ever, though maybe I'm just bitter that it didn't come out on PC:P. That's supposed to be rectified before too long, so maybe I'll get a chance to actually play it enough to like it.

I thought they were going to be doing Unreal Tournament as a yearly or bi-yearly franchise, like a sports game from now on. Kinda silly for me though as I've yet to really get into 2003. I still like the original better because it's got so damn many mods.

I got a question. What's the first FPS to have driveable vehicles?

As he said, Terminator future shock was probably the first FPS to have driveable vehicles. Also, I think it beat even Quake to having polygonal levels, models and dynamic lighting (mind you descent 1 had dynlighting). You should get T:FS from an abandonware site, it's not a bad game and is really pretty atmospheric in points. Plus you get to drive a jeep and fly a hunter killer (remember the flying things from the war scene at the start of the (2nd?) movie? Also was one of the pioneering games with mouselook as standard config too. I remember my friends complaining about having to aim with the mouse.

There has been a few FPS's with vehicles before Halo though, it's not really a new idea. Seems heavily inspired by Tribes 1 and 2 from what I have played of it. I'm looking forward to playing it on PC, with a decent control system - I never played it enough to get used to the Xbox controllers.

You won't have to worry about the controls. If you were born and raised on a mouse/keyboard then the controls will be perfect. Bungie even said the controls will be smoother on a keyboard/mouse than with a controller. I also remember Perfect Dark for the 64, on the Area 51 level, you could ride those hover bikes.

I heard of one drivable vehicle in UT2003 and it's only in a demo level. I haven't seen any pics of it. Are there pics for it anywhere? And Championship doesn't have drivable vehicles.

If you crack open the UT2K3 editor and goto object placing option you'll find a vehicle of sorts. It's called the Bulldog.

I don't have the money, time, or minimum requirements for the game.

Go into the UT2k3 maps folder, find vehicledemo (I think) and rename it to DM-vehicledemo. Now you can paly the test map! Just run over the switch to spawn one. It's a two man vehicle. You can use the rocket gun yourself (it has autolock) but it's a lot easier if someone else does it. Championship doesn't have vehicles?? I thought that was what was going to distinguish it from the Tournament games. Hmmph.

Geez, for the last time, I KNOW WHERE AND HOW TO GET THE BULLDOG!!! I was asking for pics earlier but I had to resort to going over to the Atari forums to get some and it was cool. With everybody driving a bulldog it's kinda like Twisted Metal in some ways.
