Here is a new game I've been working on. This version should be bug-free, but I haven't done too much playtesting yet.
Post your best times here, along with any comments or other feedback you might have.
Download Blasteroid (http://www.temhellspawn.com/Blasteroid.zip) (348KB).

Game play is fun, but I'd get some original graphics and sound (Gunstar Heroes and Prodigy used currently).
What language is it in?

I cheated. It's not a language as such, I used Klik&Play, designed for kids.

Really? I remember that program being a piece of trash. Although, the last time I played with it was over 5 years ago.

Man, that game is hard. Only managed 67 seconds. It's fun though. The game itself seems bugfree but the 16bit setup program is garbage. If you use long file names in the directory it locks up. In fact, it locks up when it finishes anyway (on win2k at least).
I see you like the music from Duke3D http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif.

"Once in a while a programmer really writes something he's proud of, a slick, elegant, blazingly fast routine that stands as a benchmark against which other code will be judged by. However, this is not the case with TED's fill routine. This slow, stupid algorithm will casually fill one plane of data in a painfully creeping manner. Press ESC when it gets confused." - John Romero on TED (Tile EDitor)

I've actually played some excellent klik&play games before, so I'll give this one a try.

It can be, depending on the kind of game you try to make. 2D Platformers are impossible due to the useless collision detection of animated things.

I gave up trying to make my own midi's, so I have to steal them from somewhere. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Urgh, I remember my fits with Klik & Play. You should use The Games Factory, it's the next generation Klik & Play with plugins for mod support and such http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif

I did release my old knp creations last year, it's posted in an old thread even. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif

I still have the demo of Games Factory, but my evaluation period ran out ages ago. I'll get round to registering it one day. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/rolleyes.gif

I lasted 1053 seconds in all, but I got bored at about 1000 (the breath music stopped shortly after too) so I basically tried to kill myself to see if I could.
I never tried out the klik&play stuff, it sort of put me off that everything was done for you the music, the graphics ect (or thatÂ’s what I interpreted off the back of the box)

My best is 966. I'll make the music loop longer and try to make a more progressive difficulty. It seems to get easier when you only have one health left to defend.
Also I need to have more game mode types. I'm working on a brick bashing game and might try a Versus mode against the computer.
