Does anyone remember 'Elite', the 3D wireframe Space Sim with no textures? I had it on the NES but it was also on more ancient consoles. It is still one of the best space sims of all time. I've been waiting for a modern update for years and now I've found Freelancer (http://www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer/downloads_05.asp).
It isn't actually based on Elite but the gameplay is practically identical. It has all the same features as the original like trading, upgrading your ship and bounty hunter missions. Plus, you can now buy new ships and the graphics are excellent.
