I really couldn't of said it better, but I'll add one a comment to why I think this way about Half-Life: This has to be the most overrated game ever. Why? Because of modifications like Counter-Strike and Day Of Defeat, also known as "realistic mods". How the hell can any of them be "realisitic" when half of the guns in CS shoot through concrete walls? It's a load of bullcrap. And also Half-Life by itself is as entertaining as staring at a wall for half a hour.

All those MP Mods tick me off, it would be ok if they still included the underlying nature of the Half-Life story, but they totally rip the creatures from the other side out of the game, and replace them with terrorists. :/

Half-Life and Opposing Force is the only Half-Life worth playing as far as I am concerned, it is like 1998's tribute to the DOOM story. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

In reality, half of those guns in CS can shoot through walls. Those guns are high-powered weapons and probably the creators wanted to add some in the mod.

Half-Life does not suck, its good... I got the platinum collection with 5 cds heh... sweet game.

My brother gave me that collection. I haven't played it in a while though.

My friend is on about some new mod now where you have teams with these commanders and you fight aliens or something. Heh, the name escapes me now.

Half-Life is one of the few FPS games I've really liked since DooM. CS is over-rated though.

Normal Half-Life was good for the first time I played it.

All it's multiplayer mods have the same problem: Corpses disappear right away when they hit the floor. Looks so unrealistic and bad. They don't even fade away, just blink away.

Half-Life DM was all I was really into. They Hunger was also pretty good for SP.

i like HL but i think that its HIGHLY overrated. I liked most of Neil Manke's mod though, esp his quake levels

Aliotroph: The mod may be called Natural Selection.... I seem to remember that one being aliens Vs humans, with two commanders who can just float around the level telling people what to do.

I really enjoyed H-L single player, but multiplayer I wasn't so keen on.

Counterstrike bores the hell out of me. TFC was fun in some gamemodes though. I liked the protect/assasinate the VIP missions.

Yeah, the mod is Natural Selection. My friend just sent it to me.

I like a nice one-on-one HL DM game. Those can be fun. I love playing that Datacore level with my little brother cause we're fairly evenly matched there.

There was this interesting looking mod being done called Science and Industry where you have two corporations. Each one is trying to develope better weapons and they do this by having a lot of scientists and keeping their environment peaceful so the work is faster. You use the weapons of course to kick the shit out of the other corporation and disrupt their work while defending your stuff.

Yeah, that is a cool idea for a mod (Sci+I). One thing I will say about the Half-life community is that they are a lot more adventurous with their mods than the Unreal/Q123 communities. The deathmatch levels are often more interactive than in other games' static ones, with traps and movement etc, which I quite like.

LOL! I don't see how Half-Life sucks or is boring. It's one of the best games to come down the pipe since DooM even with Half-Lifes shitty end boss.

Poke 646 is a cool SP mod for Half-Life.

I have never liked Half-Life, a few m8's of mine are really into it, but I can't see what the fuss is all about.

I think DM and TDM is boring as hell, as with the rest of the game.

If anyone want's my opinion, here it is: Half Life MP sucks, Half Life Single Player was good. Also, the way I see it, some of the more "realistic" FPS' should stay single player, while the fast paced & heavy weapon FPS are for MP. But that's just me.

The tentacles can't hear you when you walk while crouched. Use grenades to distract them before and after going up / down the ladders. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

Move the crates into the water before turning on the generator and you'll be able to get across safely.

I never liked Half-Life, it was too preppy for my tastes. Everyone uses the same old skeletal animations when it comes to modeling. Plus on an average, their faces are squished in.

The monsters are overpowered even on easy difficulty. Smart AI my ass, that shotgun guard just instantly shot me down while i'm at full life and armor!
