What first person shooter do you use for deathmatching?

Besides Quake and other id games, what FPS work good for deathmatches? I think Half-Life by Valve kicks ass as a deathmatch game.

For me deathmatch is either Q3 duel, Urban Terror or Doom.

I like Q3 the most out of multiplayer games because it's completely stripped down, very fast, with no gimmicks and there is a lot to master with all the physics and level navigation tricks. I only really play duels though because I like the strategy and level control elements in duelling, which aren't as present in standard dm.

Urban Terror deathmatch just rules because of the tension and strategy. A perfect combination of action and strategy/stealth. Gunfights don't have to turn into crouch-fests in order to shoot anyone accurately, unlike in many other realism mods.

Doom because it's unlike any other modern DM game in that 1 frag doesn't mean a fucking thing (unless the other people have 0 and the timelimit's up. Although I don't know.. bleh ramble) - the game is so fast paced in multiplayer that you get a lot more frags by the end of the game and therefore being killed once is no big deal.

Probably really rambling post, but I'm really quite drunk (I never really drink so it doesn't take much to get me) and only just managed to avoid puking over a girl I really like after fucking around. In fact I feel awful. *toxfluff crawls away to die...

there is no better dm than doom2 dwango5 map07 with 2 or 3 other people. ahh.

But yes, I play half life dm, mainly the mods for half life. Especially Firearms, DMC, action half life, some counter-strike, some global warfare.

I recently played Battlefield 1942 and loved it. I hope I can run it on my computer soon.

In the console world, FPS games in my opinion tend to control poorly for DM. Too bad Metroid Prime didn't have DM. I would say Unreal Tournament is the best console DM game I've played, but that's available and better for PC.

A lot of other games are good but not that good.

im into ut2003 but i really suck in it
more complicated than the quake2 style dm i used to play
but im also into playing some CS but i guess thats not really DM

btw half-life dm is wierd, i really couldnt get a hang of all the guns :P

I play Half-Life DM, Duke3D DM, Legacy DM, and GLQuake DM. I haven't played Duke3D in ages though cause none of my damn computers will run it properly. I like fast, simple DM mostly.

ut (the original) and quake III as well as doom. I like UT better than q3 cause q3 IMO feels 'cheap'. Doom is in a ranking of its on tho lol

I play UT with bots and that's about it for my DM playing these days. I haven't played online in over a year now. Me and my brothers used to get into a game of UT now and then. I really do prefer to play a good game of anything SP instead of all this DM mumbo jumbo. Putting up with lag and bitchy, strangers on a server 100 miles away is a pain in the ass. There used to be a Quake II server my ISP put up and I had a great time on that fragging with a good ping. The one day they changed it to a Counter Strike server and I lost interest.
