Is it just me, or do the Warcraft 2 midi played through Yamaha's XG Softsynth sound exactly like the CD Audio tracks on the Warcraft 2 CD?

I have never heard the warcraft 2 midis, however I don't doubt it. XG has superb quality instrument banks/patches.

I have a pile of Warcraft II midis if anyone wants them. I can send them to whoever may want them.
They do sound awesome on XG but they don't sound exactly like the CD tracks. They can't because the CD music used all kinds of custom instruments to make it sound darker and more evil. Here are a few differences I noticed:
-The french horns in the human songs are under-powered in XG (XG has a sucky default french horn)
-You loose the coolness of that harp in the first human battle song in the midi file. It's there but not so cool.
-There are lots of ambient/percussion type things that get lost in the last two orc battle songs in midi. They still sound cool though.
-I like the XG choirs better than the originals.
Those are damn cool midi files though. They sound great.
Too bad the XG synth I have only works on Win95/98. I can't run it on my newer computers.

The midis are sent.
Warcraft II midis sound cool on anything except FM. Some songs are better on FM but those aren't them.

However, this is not the case with TED's fill routine. This slow, stupid algorithm will casually fill one plane of data in a painfully creeping manner. Press ESC when it gets confused." - John Romero on TED (Tile EDitor)

The only songs that sound good for FM are the ones that were made for FM.
