Just when you thought your GBA was useless...
Here are some screenshots:
http://www.pocketnes.org/screens/smb2.gif
http://www.pocketnes.org/screens/08megamanunscaled.gif
http://www.pocketnes.org/screens/11menububble.gif
http://www.pocketnes.org/screens/02blasterintro.gif

You upload the roms to a GBA cart with this handy utility:
http://jandaman.cybrhost.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=gbaxgflash256

This isn't illegal in any way. Just use ONLY roms you have dumped yourself or public domain roms.
I do not link to private rom sites because they are illegal. Please do not post any of these links.

That's cool. It would be fun to play with some NES developement tools and make apps for that thing.

"Once in a while a programmer really writes something he's proud of, a slick, elegant, blazingly fast routine that stands as a benchmark against which other code will be judged by. However, this is not the case with TED's fill routine. This slow, stupid algorithm will casually fill one plane of data in a painfully creeping manner. Press ESC when it gets confused." - John Romero on TED (Tile EDitor)

The flash rom thing is a bit expensive. Well, it's cheaper than a pirate EEPROM burner, but still a bit expensive unless you're really interested in GBA Development.

I do agree. However, I think the price is worth it for a portable NES. My brother bought one and I will be getting a summer job to pay for this as well as some other things I need... hmm ... new video card... ddr pad.... afterburner backlight kit....

Money is a wonderful thing. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

or u could just download the roms and save the money...companies don't care except if they are assholes...nintendo isn't selling or producing new nes games anymore...they aren't making money off of them, lol...its like the abandonware concept for computers...technically it's illegal but no one gives a shit, like spitting on the sidewalk for example...

You can take the GBA with you though. I'd like to see you carry around a PC tower.

downloading roms is still illegal, no matter how people care. What you do on your own time is no concern of mine, but posting roms on a public board is wrong.

Whatever your roms are, you can upload them to a gba cart and carry them with you.

What about SNES roms for the games they're not remaking?

I doubt the GBA could emulate a SNES at full speed but it would be interesting to see what would happen.

I'm sure a 7mhz ARM-7 could easily emulate a 3.58mhz 65c816 CPU. The SFX and SA-1 chip would probably cause problems. The main prob is that the GBA's max rez is 240x160 while the SNES min rez is 256x224.

picklehammer

resolution shouldn't be a problem, like in pocketnes. There would probably just be different modes like scaled and auto and all that.

I'd get the flash thing if they made an SMS emulator as well. A Wonderswan emu would be cool too.

Hmm, I wonder...is there any reason that wouldn't work with a GBA SP?

The Undertaker

The only differnce I know of between the 2 is the fold up design and the backlit screen, so it should.

I believe the SP is actually frontlit, according to http://pocket.ign.com/articles/381/381613p1.html , meaning there is a degree of glare. When I get some spare money, I will put in an afterburner backlight kit on mine.
But yes, it would definetely work with the SP.

Well the commericial said "a lit screen" so I assumed they did. I just wish they used a progressive scan screen, the scanlines drive me nuts.

I might buy a GBA SP whenever that comes out (I dunno if it's already out or not), since my GBA got stolen.

ah... well I don't think there are any for GBA.

Here is a list of emulators of non-gba things that can be used on a gba:

Lol! This is a GBA thread about emulators, and you have to have one person come in and post about a PC one. Figures http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm7.gif
