Does anyone here still play that classic? Or is Return To Castle Wolfenstein the only Wolf game that matters now?

There's a neat GL port of Wolf3D called NewWolf. Good for playing on Windows NT computers and the like. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif There's a thread about it around here somewhere with nice download links (the site is slow).

"Once in a while a programmer really writes something he's proud of, a slick, elegant, blazingly fast routine that stands as a benchmark against which other code will be judged by. However, this is not the case with TED's fill routine. This slow, stupid algorithm will casually fill one plane of data in a painfully creeping manner. Press ESC when it gets confused." - John Romero on TED (Tile EDitor)

I was making a wolf 3d tc coded all in C++ or whatever wolf 3d source was i forget...been a while, but yea i still play it... my tc was a ninja type mod with all kinds of neat stuff...i even edited the enemies to have stealth type gameplay... but then when my hard drive went 2 times in a row and I hadn't backed it up yet I wasn't about to redo and start a years worth of work... i like JDoom better though, Doom is a classic but it has just enough features to appease everyone... DooM is the best... but wolf will always have a special place in my heart...LMFAO

return to wolfenstein sucks tho...it's quake 3 with the wolfenstein name slapped on it for sales...awful game...disgrace to the wolf name...

That really blows that you lost all that hard work. Yours isn't the first TC / mod / megawad to get toasted by a hard drive failure. Somehow I missed the whole Wolf 3D dealie and went from playing stuff on a C64 to playing DooM on a PC. Wasn't till later on that I played Wolf3D.

The SNEW port of Wolf3D is crap though. They took out all the references to Nazis (like that really matters if you're killing guys anyway).

The song at the hardware info screen was the anthem of the Nazi party. Explains why you don't hear it much. Very hard to find a decent recording of that song even though it wasn't intended to be used for that when it was written.

Wolfenstein has been ported to your calculator (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/277/27767.html). A nice way to get distracted in class.

There is a huge wolf3D porting to doomsday project, but I can't give you the link, as it's secret (I'm one of the graphic guys of the project (at least that's what the credits say... ;) ).
I hope it'll be officially released soon.

Well, Wolfenstein 3d , its maybe technical out of date, but its kinda quite game.
I still play it sometimes, on XP, and everthing work fine,.. yes and whay everthing work?
The answer is easy, i use "Dos BOX", a very greate dos emulator
and you can also download a zip file whit a application that format a floppy disk to an Dos boot up disk, so you can transform your Super hig en pc , so it looks like an old DOS machine

No officers, no mutants, no Hitler, no devil, no giant pushwall maze and no Pac-Man reference. The shareware certainly pales in comparison to the other five episodes (and SoD), but it still managed to keep me entertained for nearly four years before I picked up a copy of the full game.

If you would like to know more about the Wolfenstein for Doomsday mod project.. then either be smart and search the forum OR use this handy link. (http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=28402)

btw.: There still screenshots of it at my webpage (it's in my signature ;)).
I'm part of the project as the main hi-res texture artist (pheww.. about 400 textures! *crazy* )
And also alot of hi-res patches...

[EDIT] We are about 98% done atm...
