I really liked Warcraft 2 Until I got a comp that was too fast for it.

Maybe I'll get Warcraft 3 later on.

I haven't tried the first one either.

I liked warcraft 2, I didnt really like warcraft 3, it didnt let u build huge armies ro anything, it lacked in the multiplayer i think, then again i didnt play it very long.

Warcraft 1 multiplayer was quite good, it let you manipulate starting conditions alot more, starting with whatever number of units... but you could only selct 4 units at a time and it usually ended up being a race to build a mage tower then summoning daemons and water elementals..

WC1 - troublesome like Dune2, hit button each time you want to move a unit or a group of six

WC2 - much better

WC3 - too slow (k6-2 266MHz)

Warcraft 2 was my favorite. 3 is crap. It was so obviously rushed. The armies are too small and you can't have ocean units. The whole game feels dumbed down.

I dont see why everyone hate 3, I think its 3 times better then what wc2 ever was.

I cant see how it can be rushed, top notch graphics, no major bugs, balanced gameplay etc.

Warcraft 2 wasnt really a big army game, wc3 had as big armies as Wc2 had.

I feel sorry for you.

Sorry if I might sound like a compleate a-hole, but I just think that Wc3 is not a bad game, and if you loved Wc2 you would probaly love wc3...

warcraft III was cool. 2 was ok but every battle was repeditive, never played 1. II had much better missions and stuff and there is a huge fanbase for it esp. on bnet

I can't tolerate 20FPS at 1600x1200x32 any longer. This is when playing DooM/Heretic comes right into my mind.

hmmm well 1600*1200 isnt a necessity, is it?

hmm btw anybody who can help why does my 17inch monitor flicker at 1280*1024? it's a 17-inch nec. My school has 17inch no-name monitors and they are fine at that res...
is there anyway to turn the refresh rate up without my monitor turning off completely?

Sure, there's powerstrip by entechtaiwan.

However, it's better to play at 1280x960 instead, the better refresh rate's on that res. :P

The first had the best story line IMO, but it could have used better controls and a better palette. The second one was alright, but the magic users were annoying. I haven't played the third.

That's because they redid the whole game 3 or 4 times. It was originally a heroes-only RPG kinda game.

LOL!

WarCraft III is okay, but I much prefer II. I still play multiplayer LAN games with friends and still make the occasional map. One thing I don't like about III are the voice actors and the music. Both were far better in WarCraft II. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm4.gif

They had better artwork in the past, they were recently contributed crappy animations and models which replace the excellent artwork it used to have.

Maybe i'd contribute to this someday. Their demon sucks now (only 1 frame of MSPAINT goodness)
