I want to know if it's possible to make an animated sky. I think some would be cool. I especially like the fire sky in PSX DooM. I thought it'd look cool in one of my older maps.

Probably could do it if you were a coding genius with FS in Legacy or something. I've never seen a animated sky in a doom wad... not yet. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm12.gif

As far as I know there's no way to do it in Legacy.

You can achieve animated sky effects (scrolling skies, lightning, etc.) with sky boxes in ZDooM.

in legacy i tried to make the hsky textures in dsv4 work. I edited the defswani.dat file and generated a new anim.lmp. hmmm didnt do anything...i wonder what the prob is?

Except setlinetexture effects linedefs. And the only paralax ceiling texture is fsky.

Aah the FSKY thing, what causes the doom renderer to put it either the FSKY flat thing, or the texture ones, FSKY is only in Doom2 also I think... I maybe wrong, I'll have to look into it...

Whether you put it as a flat or texture. I think its just called sky in doom1.

Using the texture skys renders them normally along the wall which looks retarded unless you're making a skybox, but Legacy doesn't support skyboxes at the moment.
And if Legacy ever does I hope it's a Quake 2 / Half-Life format rather than ZDoom / UT.

whats wrong with ut skyboxes? you can do pretty much anything with them!
