hey people, I don't know if anyone knows this mod for Quake 2, but I finally found it's last version files on a FTP server. It has all the stuff from Wolf3D, DooM, Quake 1 & 2.

They discontinued the project and deleted the files from PlanetQuake mirrors when the mod became popular and iD Software was about to sue them. I don't remember the full story, and it was before Q3 was released.

Generations homepage:
http://www.planetquake.com/generations/

Generations files:
ftp://ftp.ag.ru/xaos/quake2/mods/generations/

This is from Generations site:

Generations is a 'tribute to id software'. We combine the greatest shooters of all times (which were all made by id software) into 1 quake 2 mod. We currently have Quake 2 (duh) and Quake 1 classes at near perfect state. Doom and wolf are being modeled and setup as I type. All the physics (with the exception of the doom and wolf guys not being able to jump or crouch), Weapons, HUDs, etc. are being duplicated to offer you a fealing like you really are in the game of the your class. Some of the main features include...

Conversion of popular maps from Wolf, Doom, and Quake
New Player models (Doom and Quake, Female models to follow in a later release)
All the orignal weapons from Wolf, Doom, and Quake
VWEAP animations for the new player models and their own weapons
Different physic for the different classes
Orignal sounds from the games
New HUDs
Team scanner/Radio for Team games
Many gameplay modes
Many different modes of play are supported, depending on the server settings and the map lists.

Single player mode (fight Strogg with your plasma gun!)
Free for all Deathmatch
Class based Team Deathmatch
Red vs Blue Teams, with Wolf, Doom, Quake, and Quake2 players.
CTF
Pickup style CTF, Team games or Deathmatch (i.e spawn with all weapons/armor for your class)

Yeah, that's a good mod. I liked it. But since I no longer have Quake 3 on my computer, nor can find the CD for it, I can't play it.

There's also a new Generations mod for Quake 3: http://www.planetquake.com/wirehead/generations

They're doing everything from the ground up so they can't get sued. Hasn't gotten beyond deathmatch though, they seem to be working on an sp mode.

Yes, there's also a legitimate Q2 mod called SOG, however they all use made up weapon names, different models and sounds which don't appear correct http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/frown.gif

What I like about Generations is that it has all the original stuff (models, sounds, textures and all the Q1 Shareware & Deatmatch Levels http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif)

I think I played the Q2 version.
The Doom guy had to manually open the automatic doors, which kinda sucked during a DM http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Start a new game and type "map genstart" in the console. I think this should work with the 98b patch (Don't forget to apply 98a first). Alternatively try "map qe1m1"
