I've been getting errors whenever I right click in sector mode of Deepsea in Zdoom/Hexen mode

I hope its just me and not the software, because I really don't want to de-grade back to a old version.

Is this a recent event? Sounds like it is or else you would have reported it sooner. If so, then it's unlikely it's DeePsea itself.

The "memory could not be read" sounds like a hardware error - seems it would get a protection exception, not that message.

Lots of things can cause issues, from new video/sound drivers (most common) to new "background" programs such as keyboard intercept jobbies (also common), hardware changes and so on, including corruption of the level by the other utilities you are using.

Please send me the level and I'll test it - tell me the sector this happens on or if anywhere. I run XP, which I think you also are running (can run on 98 too). That's the only way to quickly find answers.

Also when you send the level I can update you to 11.66. No big changes. I've never had time to update the webpage - 11.66 has been out for a long time. Mostly a change to 2nd sidedef missing texture display.

I acually emailed you about this not too long ago, and told me it could be a memory problem. Nothing to worry about though, but when I installed my previous version of deepsea (12-13-02 I believe) it doesn't crash when I edit a sector in zdoom/hexen mode, so now I am begining to think it could be 11.65 of deepsea causing the problems.

Here's 3 things to note:

1. Look at the links in the DOOMWORLD forum I got from the MS knowledge base. You need to apply service packs to your copy of Win2000.

2. You never did send me the level in question. Pretty hard to troubleshoot without data. Although it turns out to be a service pack issue, it's not productive to not supply more information. Heck, I didn't even know you were running Win2000 till just now in the other forum.

3. I sent you a copy of 11.66 on 9/6/2002. Yet you are still running 11.65?

I also explained that there were NO changes at all in the area you mentioned. Hence, I was pretty certain it wasn't DeePsea per se.

sorry about that, after I installed 11.66, it did the same thing, I went back to 11.65 because I was too lazy to recreate my custom prj files... http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm3.gif

edit: well, I am going to install the latest service pack, wish me luck....

and if that doesn't fix it, then I'll have to buy a new memory stick.

well, I just installed sp3 for win2k, and still no luck with deepsea, it still gives me that msg when I edit a sector in zdoom/hexen mode. I still tested 11.57 and it still works though....

whats even wierder is that I was getting those damn msg like the ones from deepsea when I tried to install the service pack! I had to restart my computer to get the damn setup working.

it has to be bad memory...
