YO all.
I have been making maps for a while, but they have all been small becuase I am using the deepsea shareware editor, and because it isn't "paid for" it is racking me with the linedef limits. DOes anyone know where I could get a full deepsea editor, or any editor similar to it for that matter? help would be greatly appreciated. Peace and thanks.

Yeah, you can order the full version from sbsoftware.com. It may seem expensive but it was worth it. I love DeePsea. I don't mind supporting it because it comes from a small company and it's a great piece of software.

That said, you can also find full versions of DEU (there are a bazillion betas and half of them don't work), DoomCAD, DETH, and some others. Wadauthor is shareware, but it doesn't have a linedef limit. It runs out after 30 days and I think most people cheat and just reinstall it rather than pay for it. For that matter, I don't even know if you still can register it.

All those other editors are quite a bit different from DeePsea and none of them have the massive range of features it has. They do work though. Pate (he hangs around the Legacy forum a lot) is making one called Why. It's in a developement stage but it's shaping up to be a very good editor with lots of support for modern ports. It's free I believe.

Oops, I forgot I was going to put links to some of those editors. Oh well, too lazy now. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif

My nick is even confusing for me. Aliotroph originated about 4 years ago while I was studying biology in high school with my best friend (hence the 'troph' part). The first part I believe was making fun of someone we knew (named Alia). I'm not sure why anymore. I don't know who made up the name or exactly what it meant. The '?' came later. I was playing Perfect Dark with another friend and he asked what "Aliotroph" meant. To taunt him I added a '?'. It sounds funny in a game: "Killed Aliotroph?" That's why I kept it. Hehe. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm1.gif

Do you all know where to find a download for wadauthor? I checked the Newdoom database and it wasn't there.

Look around the Team DeiM site (http://www.teamdeim.com). I saw a link to the Wadauthor page on their site.

hey does anyone remember the name of that editor that was dos-based, had a starwars walker splash screen, and had really colorful sprite placeholders in the editor? it was Ed-something or something-ed. it's not edmap or doomed...

it was better than wadauthor http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/frown.gif wadauthor has serious sector-editing issues. i often have to go through and set the linedef sector numbers manually because it screws up.
